Capcom's growth over the last console generation or so has been frankly outstanding. The company has gone from strength to strength for close to a decade now, making everyone forget just how hard the PS3 era was for the Japanese gaming industry in general. Capcom's come so far, in fact, that its stock actually hit a new all-time high earlier today, worth a reported 4,865 yen.
Obviously, this news arrives off the back of the excellent Resident Evil 4 remake, but it still feels like Monster Hunter World was key to all of this momentum. The 2018 action RPG defied expectations; an absolute blockbuster that ended up becoming the best-selling game Capcom has ever released. The publisher also revived Resident Evil in a massive way, with Resident Evil 7 kickstarting a new era for the horror-based series back in 2017. Extremely well received remakes and another sequel have kept the franchise in the spotlight ever since.
And then you've got the likes of Monster Hunter Rise only adding to Capcom's impressive run. With Street Fighter 6 set for June, and huge projects like Dragon's Dogma 2 and the inevitable Monster Hunter World 2 in development, you can't help but feel as though the company is almost unstoppable on its current trajectory. No wonder its stock is soaring!
Did you think Capcom could hit such heights? Don't stop this train in the comments section below.

Hardly surprising. This is what happens when you consistently put out great products for a prolonged period of time. Well done Capcom, well deserved.
Theres no way we dont get a World 2 and I am so excited for it.
Really well deserved, looking forward to SF6 and Dragon’s Dogma 2 - probably my most anticipated titles.
And they still won't touch Dino Crisis. Watch. Fans will continue to clamor for it and Capcom will continue to ignore it.
Well they are the best publisher in Japan and fully deserved. With games like SF6, Dragons Dogma 2 and Pragmata on the way it's only going to get better for them. Also I wouldn't be surprised if we see the next monster hunter for PS5 get announced this year.
Be a great time to announce monster hunter world 2....
And hopefully we hear about Pragmata sometime soon!
Capcom's resurgence needs to be studied cuz most companies would've folded after going what they went through during their Westernization phase. With that being said, Square Enix DESPERATELY needs to take notes.
@Uncharted2007 patience it Will come, capcom will realise how much they like money with this soaring stocks and then Dino Crisis will come, its guaranteed they be stupid not too
I hope other companies are taking note that good single player IPs are key to a successful business.
I am not surprised that they have been on such a growth over the years, they have listened to what the fans wanted and made the correct decisions!! I collect Capcom games as a whole and I am so glad to see how they have handled themselves! It was a great move to begin remaking the Resident Evil games and I really hope that Code Veronica is next on the agenda!! Dino Crisis would also be a very welcome addition!!
Would be hilarious if capcom do a show starting with a games montage to the song rapgod but it's capgod instead 😂
There's no bolt gun in the 05 RE4 original but RE4remake has a bolt gun. Code Veronica definitely has one with explosive bolts too just like the RE4remake bolt gun. Is this the first genuine sign of a Code Veronica remake. Got me thinking last night this did, like Capcom are getting some sneaky practice in for a Code Veronica remake
@Uncharted2007 The best selling Dino Crisis sold less than 2.5million units LTD & was released when Dinosaurs were all the rage (post Jurassic World).
The Dino craze is nowhere near what it once was.
At best you’d get a remaster or a re-release.
@Beerheadgamer82 It's a possibility since REVillage always felt like RE4 being hinted at with the briefcase, a village being over run, and obviously the first part of the game having you need to survive an invasion.
You can see the CRAPcom era in that graph between 2009-2016 xD and now we are in capgod era. Now bring on dragon's dogma 2 next!
@Nepp67 yh that's what I thought about RE8Village too, bit of practice for RE4remake. Also in the RE3remake they had a couple zombies with their heads having tentacles just like RE4, for some practice before the RE4remake
Yeah a lot of people seem to be asking for Dino Crisis but it really wasn't that popular and I don't think it's even that great either? Could be nice though I guess and now that Capcom are about to start scraping the barrel when it comes to remakes, it wouldn't surprise me too much. I think a full reboot would be a better idea than a faithful remake if they are going to do it. I dunno, just seems like it could be a lot of work to make the dino's behave in a believable and scary way for a 2023 audience.
Maybe they should have got a remaster out a couple of years ago to test the response in the first instance.
@Beerheadgamer82 My body has a mighty need for CODE!!!
@TeapotBuddha the thing is .... its not easy to make the games capcom makes, bc its not about having the resources or the money or the technology, those things can be easily bought , what can't be easily bought is people with passion, love and care for what they're doing, i think above everything else that's what makes capcom games so good and endearing.
Capcom has delivered nothing but the goods since Resident Evil VII.
@pharos_haven samehere. Would love to see what they would do with Bandersnatch (stretchy arms enemy)
Looking forward to Dragons Dogma.
People wanting Dino crisis, are going to keep wanting lol. The way these remakes and support now work are almost entirely based on how well the original game sold, so in essence potential share holder profits.
So unless dinoncrisis was a blockbuster back then, which it wasn't...
Sadly, this is the same reason Bloodborne has been overlooked for so long by FromSoft. Last I looked it's their least selling souls like game, despite its acclaim. I do hope that a sequel or remaster comes for it, because I think it's a new scenario now where the genre has grown vastly More popular since bloodborne release.
I do wonder if pragmata even exists as a game beyond it being a tease to sell PS5s. It's been over 2 years with several Capcom releases in between without hearing anything,.... anything at all about the game.
Bring on Dragons Dogma though!!! .
I’m so happy I invested in Capcom share via trading 212 last year 👍
I only play monster hunter out of their games. And 1 thing I don't like is that they don't do crossplatform play. If they did that, I'd like them more.
@TeapotBuddha In capcom case. Their success isnt due to making quality, single-player games with care. Most of their successful games are multiplayer driven games like street fighter and monster hunter. They’ve found success in just delivering good games in general.
@KundaliniRising333 96RE1, 98RE2 and 99RE3 didn't do incredible numbers in the 90s either in comparison of today's market but have all received remakes. So Dino Crisis not having huge numbers in the late 90s doesn't necessarily mean there's no chance of it ever getting the remake treatment or a reboot at some point. Since Capcom have gotten heavily back on the remake train over the last few years there's been a huge demand for Dino Crisis. Just look at the disappointment of the first Exo Primal reveal, almost everyone thinking its Regina from Dino Crisis. DC might not have sold well on original release, especially by todays standards but that doesn't mean it hasn't gained a huge bunch of fans since, which it has. There is a genuine huge demand for DC and Capcom definitely knows this too
@Beerheadgamer82 true true. Although in terms of all time Capcom sales. The original re 2/3 sold over double what DC did. Do you think the letdown of what exoprimal turned out to be or looks to be, hurts Dino crisis remake?
@KundaliniRising333 it might do if Exo Primal doesn't do decent enough numbers, hard to say really. Although they both have different target audiences, DC being single player and Exo Primal being much more multiplayer focused. If anything with the experience gained from Exo Primal could be a good creative practice for a DC remake/reboot, plus the monsters in their Monster Hunter games is also a good experience to have for the Jurassic period
Capcoms' re-emergence is a thing of beauty and we love to see it! I hope they keep growing and take some of that new confidence and push it into a new IP or two.
Capcom has felt like capcom that I remember from early playstation era these past few years. Capcom during PS3 days was a drag
I like the compilation games they release
Hope they release Dragon Dogma 2, real soon..
@TeapotBuddha Nobody really playing Monster hunter solo. You would have to be a mad man to sit through countless hunt solo.
“ Capcom don't feel the need to take gambles on trend-chasing live service rubbish.”
I mean… we literally have Exoprimal coming soon.
