There's not a whole lot to dig into with the UK's latest physical chart. All the usual suspects are still kicking around in the top 10, although this is very much the calm before the storm, with a few big releases coming soon. For now, though, FIFA 23 is back on top of the pile.
Resident Evil 4 drops one spot from second to third, and continues to sell best on PS5. Likewise for the extremely popular Hogwarts Legacy, which also moves down one position into fourth. God of War Ragnarok, on the other hand, moves up a few places into sixth, and Gran Turismo 7 is cruising in seventh. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is down to eighth, and EA Sports PGA Tour, eighth last week, drops to 15th.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 15th April, 2023
- FIFA 23
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Resident Evil 4
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Super Mario Odyssey
- God of War Ragnarok
- Gran Turismo 7
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
- Minecraft (Switch)
- New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe

HTF is Mario Kart WiiU remastered still selling this much? It boggles the mind that all these people haven't played it already in the, what, 9 years it existed? And NSMBUD was depressing when it launched, it's even more depressing that it's still top 10.
Glad to see GT7 up there still. I'm still hoping beyond hope that's driven (giggle) by VR2. Just wrapped up the world GT race and got the credits yesterday. What a heck of a game in VR. Just absolutely remarkable. Most fun I've had with a racing game ever, though there's technically still a ton of stuff to do. I'd get a pedal/wheels/shifter kit for it if I had a place to actually play it, and I'm not even a hardcore racing fan. It's just that awesome in VR.
@NEStalgia I imagine the Mario movie probably sparked interest in the Mario games, outside of Mario Kart, although Mario Kart and Odyssey always seem to be featured in the top 10 quite often (the latter has been there a lot in recent weeks).
Hopefully the release of Burning Shores will give Forbidden West a bit of a boost ^__^
@NEStalgia My thoughts exactly, who doesn't have this game by now? Same goes for GTA5, who is buying this stuff?? I know GTA isn't in the top ten this week but it'll be back, and a quick look on Steam and it is still in the top ten. Who are these people!?
@GuttyYZ Someone explained to me once that the deal with GTAV is that it's actually cheaper to buy the game on sale to get the included virtual currency than it is to just buy the virtual currency and that's why GTAV is always at the top....which makes a lot of sense. So these Nintendo games make a lot less sense than GTAV, it's not skipping a discount on virtual currency, it's genuinely people that haven't played the game over the past decade somehow! The Nintendo market has never made sense, and it still doesn't!
@MasterVGuides I can see the movie bumping sales on Odyssey maybe, but Kart and NSMB are so old, have been on two consoles, it's just unimaginable that enough people with a Switch haven't played them yet to keep the games in the top 10 of the business all the time!
@NEStalgia NSMB U is my second favorite 2D Mario game. Fite me!
When a cross-media venture like the Mario Bros. movie succeeds, it boosts interest in existing products among normies. Same reason The Last of Us, which is also ancient and has released on three (!!!) consoles now got a boost after the HBO show took off.
Good to see GT7 VR (it’s not charting again for any other reason) is doing so well. Hopefully shows Sony how important hybrid games are.
I would love to actually see real numbers of how many copies these games are selling. How do we not know a game can sell like 5K copies and chart? It’s all trickery and manipulation tbh.
I purchased God of War last week, so I helped it climb the charts. Still have not started it yet, as I want to finish Wo Long first, love that game. I also noticed a few places like Amazon had GT7 on sale for £35 last week, so I am sure that helped it
Gran Turismo… I love you 🔥🔥🔥🔥😎
@NEStalgia Anyone who buys a Switch is very likely to buy Mario Kart.
The game has universal appeal because it’s easy to play for new gamers, and has nostalgia power for gaming veterans. And every day a child that reaches the age that their parents decide they’re old enough to own a Switch has a birthday.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the most common pack-in game in Switch bundles. Pack-in games count toward the overall sales of a game.
As long as Switches keep selling, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will keep selling.
(Super Mario Bros for the NES and Wii Sports for the Wii are other examples of this phenomenon.)
@Keyblade-Dan @thefourfoldroot1 hear hear bro my hype for burning shores is mega. Only problem is I’m about to start 4on4off 12 hour days 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈
GoWR only on 6th indicates mediocre PS5 hardware sales.
@Mikey856 That sucks hope you enjoy it when it releases and have time to play it I'm doing a New Game+ playthrough right now to get ready

@MayaMousavi ok, and how many actual copies are the games selling? They don’t actually reveal numbers. Back in the day in the PS3/360 era they used to say REAL NUMBERS.
@UltimateOtaku91 @KaijuKaiser
Where in my post did I mention specifically Sony? Your response says more about you than me, that you immediately rush to defend them when Nintendo had games on the list too like Minecraft.
@Shad361 just by judging your previous comment history. Seems a lot of hate towards anything to do with playstation.
@UltimateOtaku91 Sorry for not going along with the hivemind praising this company for the tiniest of things. Plenty do that already
N.i.c.e. kratos the g.o.a.t. 🐐 👑.god of war ragnarok is the best game ever made.word up son
@Shad361 back in the day most sales were physical and these charts meant something. Now we know most sales are digital they just give a small hint at what people are buying.
No trickery involved, just a list of the best selling games of the week. Your making something out of nothing.
@Total_Weirdo exactly its not a proper top 10 with out gta 🤣🤣🤣
@NEStalgia my immediate thought was wtf mario is still there over 50 million in sales wut is that game doing to people 🤔
@KaijuKaiser and what exactly are you playing on PlayStation right now? Guarantee it’s either a multiplat or an old game, because Sony has released basically nothing this year worth playing.
They have nothing but Spider-Man and FF16 which is a third party game, and will be on PC in no time. This is another lackluster year, and anyone actually paying attention sees that.
@NEStalgia I thought it was going to sell about as much as it was going to sell 20 million copies ago….I sure was wrong. as mentioned, it’s just a go to game for new Switch owners, even more than Odyssey or NSMBU….and I guess the movie has sparked some interest in new systems.
@Shad361 if you think Sony having spider man 2 and final fantasy 16 this year is lackluster. you probably a casual that don’t play many games.
@NEStalgia thank you for the info, but for Take-Two to boast about the sales number when the truth is different is dishonest and misleading, especially for their lovely investors.
@4kgk2 someone satisfied with 2 games, one of which is not even from Sony’s first party sounds like a casual to me. That’s literally nothing compared to the PS3 or PS2 era, that’s bare minimum.
Go back and look what was released for PS2 in 2003. Like 50 games.
@Dr-M well, its not false, that many copies of the game really are selling, it's just that the motive of many buyers is endless repeat purchases for the starter currency not new players... But they're not lying about unit sales.
