We went into the Capcom Showcase expecting more meaningful Dragon's Dogma 2 info, but quite frankly, we got bugger all — save for several seconds of fresh gameplay footage. Thankfully, a post on the PlayStation Blog reveals a morsel of actual news, in that the action RPG sequel will feature an open world roughly "four times the size of the original".
The map in the first Dragon's Dogma isn't huge by today's standards, but it always felt well defined, and it was fairly memorable. Given that Dragon's Dogma 2 will take place in the same region of Gransys — with additional bits bolted on, like the desert-based location seen in the gameplay trailer — we're expecting an equally enticing fantasy world.
What else do you want from Dragon's Dogma 2? How do you think the open world could improve on the first game's? Plan your adventures in the comments section below.

DD2 can basically be the same as the first game but more modern and it'll still be amazing. Anything else will be a bonus. It already had satisfying and deep combat that changed impressively based on your class. Exploration was rewarding. The pawn system was surprisingly deep. Loads of lore and world building. Unusual things like being able to marry any NPC and make fake copies of items to complete quests while keeping rare or unique items. I can't wait to see what new stuff they come up with.
So give us the fast travel option plz
@2here2there I like the Ferrystone system. It really gets you familiar with the map.
It’s gonna be great once this game drops.
@2here2there translation: please make the game as mainstream and fast food as possible please
@2here2there it's a must if the world is that big. Part of the reason I was drained on the first was all the running back and forth
I hope they are more generous with fast travel then.
They had me at Dragon's Dogma 2. But, they keep one upping it. 😁
Still pretty mild in open world size then as while the map of the first game seems massive its actually way smaller then you would think. I'm fine with this as it suits the game plus i expect like the first the map will be dense.
@Matroska how was exploration rewarding there was f**k all to find or do? The game had combat and the pawn system going for it that’s it everything else was mediocre or bad so I really hope they come with some massive improvements
Dragon dogma dark arisen is one of the best games ever made.cant wait for part 2.word up son
This just sounds better and better everytime i read something about it. I'm definatly having this to go along side the first.@dark_knightmare2 the exploration was very rewarding and bitter black isle was just genius and kept me going back time and time again. Heck i might have another bash at this before the 2nd arrives..
I loved the exploration and the feeling of danger as night loomed and you were still half the map away from Gran Soren.
If anyone hasn't played the original, like me, it's on PS Store sale for £4. Bargain
@sonicmeerkat @moneycashdane @2here2there 100% agreed, I don't wanna have to waste so much time running everywhere.
@CKFilms I've owned the first game for many years, just barely left the first town got bored and stopped.
The Ferrystone system was fine, it meant I did more exploring instead of just zipping around the map, I just need a quicker way to move - mounts would be perfect
@DiscoStuUK Yeah I know what you mean. I'd like something where each area has a boss monster - it'll probably be too tough when you first get there. But if you beat it, you unlock a waypoint.
I really want to see familiar places with modern graphics. This will already be epic and with new locations and enemies, this game will be a banger.
