Update: As expected following the leak earlier today, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will launch on 9th November, confirmed during the Summer Game Fest livestream. You can watch a new trailer above.
Original Article: It seems like we'll be hearing from SEGA about its Like a Dragon spin-off in the very near future. Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, which puts the focus back on Kazuma Kiryu, will almost certainly make an appearance during the RGG Summit next week, but a site may have spilled the beans a little early.
PS Deals, a site which scrapes the PS Store for prices, screenshots, and other details, has a new page all about the game, indicating the official Store has it all locked and loaded on the backend. According to the listing, which also shows several new screenshots, the release date for Like a Dragon Gaiden is 9th November 2023.
There's also an official blurb, but it doesn't really tell us anything we didn't already know. The game has you playing as Kiryu once again, only this time he's in hiding after faking his own death. Combat reverts back to the old brawler style, and the game will feature all the usual side activities the series is known for, like karaoke.
We're sure to learn more next week, when developer RGG Studio lifts the veil on Like a Dragon Gaiden, and presumably other titles in the works. Are you excited for this one? Tell us in the comments section below.

Kiryu in hiding after faking his death.
Also Kiryu, participating in Karaoke where he's likely to be spotted in public.
He doesnt try very hard to stay hidden 😅
“Combat reverts back to the old brawler style…”
Do you mean instead of turn based?
@Stevemalkpus Yes
I think the listing also made mention about two fighting styles; Yakuza and Agent. Yakuza is traditional Kiryu, whilst Agent involves gadgets and speed? Either way, I am excited to hear more.
Cautiously optimistic about this new Joryu lad, seems to be a cool dude.
Do they lock people in a room and force them to make these games? I swear a new one comes out every month.
He's nearly 60. Look at him.
@Rob_230 He should have tried hiding in traffic cones, it's proven effective!
@johncalmc I'm certain Masahiro Sakurai is a relative of his.
@Splat It's only been 13 games (2 were remakes) over 18 years, it's not THAT much, less often than the yearly shooters.
I will play it because it is probably will build into LAD8 but I much prefer the turn based direction of the mainline series. YLAD easily in my top 5 games of all time.
@Splat The advantage of reusing the same city(s) for the majority of their games. They change some things up about the city - construction, new shops, etc. - but put the focus on new gameplay elements and story.
One. Just one. Just make one other game besides yakuza. Just one
@Pepsiman_100 Judgement and Lost Judgement?
@HM39 nah the judgement games may have some differences here and there but they're definitely yakuza games just with a different name and cast. Even if they wanna keep making brawlers, at least go for something more like dynamite cop or spikeout
Woo can't wait
@HM39 Eh they're just yakuza spinoffs while also being a sequel of their own. Nothing wrong with it but I would love it if RGG studios would please focus on the detective and court side of Judgement more because they feel like tacked on things than being actual well developed parts of the gameplay.
Hey kiryu!!!
I have no name.
But you're the dragon of dojima.
I said I have no name!
But you ran this real estate business back in the days, also that orphanage...
No name!
Judgment Kazzy... Prisoner #1240
Damn it... smashes bicycle into face
Kyyyyryu-chaaan!
Launching sooner than I expected. Love these games so it's a day one buy.
Saying his codename is Joryu is like me saying my name isn't Miguel, it's Manuel
Super excited to see Majima again:)
@Splat This is being released on November, Ishin (a remaster of an existing game) launched on February, and the previous Like a Dragon game launched on January 2020.
I'd be more concerned about your warped perception of time than the status of these devs.
I still haven't played thru the LAD franchise yet (besides playing a small chunk of Judgment 1).
Looking forward to trying this out in a few years thru PS+ or a dirt cheap sale.
