Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's next piece of DLC, The 23rd World Tournament, introduces the iconic martial arts competition of the same name to the game, but earlier in the event's history, long before there was even a single blonde strand of hair on Goku's head (the Cell Saga centred around the 25th World Tournament, for context).
The classic Goku vs Piccolo matchup looks like a real treat, and the inclusion of special rules, such as ring-outs, only serves to make us nostalgic for the heady days of DBZ glory. Kakarot's expansions have been solid so far, with the most recent revisiting the tragic tale of Bardock and expanding upon it in ways longtime fans will appreciate.
We don't have a release date for this one yet but will be on the lookout. Are you excited to return to a less complicated time in Dragon Ball canon with Kakarot's 23rd World Tournament DLC? Power up (but not too much) in the comments section below.

Easily one of my favorite arcs in the anime and it's super cool to finally see it in a modern game.
***** I'm feeling like a kid again
@BeerIsAwesome yup. The title was a bit misleading.
Controversial opinion time: Dragonball was better back then. Goku actually had to do more than just "put a new number or word at the end of his Super Saiyan transformation = instant win."
Goku climbing Korin's tower was so memorable. The music, the struggle, the feel that this was something that no one else had ever done. I haven't had that feeling again since the end of the Namek saga.
@LifeGirl couldn't agree more. I think that's the problem with most anime that go on for a long time.
Hopefully once CC2 are done with DBZ: Kakarot content and Storm Connections they'll finally make a BLEACH game here's hoping 🤞😭
@LifeGirl 100% agree. Of the 3 very long animes I have watched (Dragon ball, Naruto and Fairy Tail - I've passed Bleach and One Piece), Fairy Tail is the only one that managed to stay consistant until the end, mainly due to some huge revelations they kept until the end, but more importantly because the sense of camaraderie was still present.
Dragon Ball switches to "get a more powerful transformation = get the win" after Namek, and no one except Goku (and sometimes Vegeta or Gohan) really did anything...
Naruto went too filler-y after a while, with interesting designs, but a paper thin plot stretched over hundreds of episodes. It ended for me with Shikamaru vs Hidan, an incredible fight full of feels and smarts.
Just some thoughts
1. I really wish they revealed tenkaichi 4 with gameplay because seeing this only makes me think about what that game will look like
2. This looks great but man I seriously hope CC2 eventually gets some new blood or some veteran combat designers on their team. Theyre so good at spectacle and stuff but the gameplay for their games is just so basic
3. I need some kind of reboot or spinoff series that brings back the martial arts and overall vibes that og dragon ball had. Just watching this trailer has given me such a nice feeling that I havent felt from dragon ball in a long time
