In perhaps the most on-brand leak of the modern era, the logo for this year's Call of Duty game has made its way online on the back of a cardboard box containing Monster Energy drinks. Activision's FPS franchise has had a long-standing partnership with the energy drink, offering the likes of double XP if you buy a can, and now a Modern Warfare 3 logo has been spotted on them.
First spotted by Twitter user (we're not calling it X) @algebra_sloth, the usual Call of Duty fan accounts like Charlie Intel have reposted the evidence. Check out the images below.
The logo uses the roman numeral III, and Captain Price sits just behind it. The other person in the picture is speculated to be Makarov. Activision has stated the game's official reveal will take place next month as part of Season 5 in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, so more news isn't too far away. This year's instalment comes from Sledgehammer Games, which previously did WWII and Advanced Warfare. A previous leak said Modern Warfare 3 will carry over guns from Modern Warfare 2, which makes sense as it was heavily speculated this year's entry was originally going to be an expansion for Modern Warfare 2.
Are you looking forward to Modern Warfare 3? Let us know in the comments below.

Yeah, I must admit ever since Modern Warfare 3 has leaked, I've been rolling my eyes a bit about it.
I'm not a Call of Duty hater in the slightest, and I'm certainly open to being impressed with this one, but this year sounds more tired than usual to me.
The proof as always will be in the pudding, of course — let's see how the announcement pans out.
LOL.........I just.............. I don't even know where to.......................hahahaha...................(shakes head)..............hahahahahahaha.................(rolls eyes)............... Whatever.
MW2 was super disapointing after the first one - and the one year turnaround doesnt fill me with confidence.
The cynic in me says this is just a way to flog a map pack at an inflated price.
@KaijuKaiser COD MW19 and 2 are the only ones I care about since Ghost.
Wow, it looks so different from all the previous logos. Good job, Activision designers!
Off-topic: don't know if there is some licensing deal, but might be a good idea to stop embedding tweets and instead embed a screenshot. I don't see this whole platform surviving long, and a huge number of articles are going to end up being ruined by its eventual collapse.
Microsoft is welcome to this crap. It's right up their street anyway.
Last COD I played was World At War and even then it was just for the SP campaign. Picked it up after binging Band of Brothers and The Pacific. Do these games still have a SP campaign?
I haven't bothered with COD since renting Advanced Warfare years ago. I don't understand people. Call of Duty is the Dynasty Warriors of the Western World.
@ItsBritneyB_tch most of them do but it’s nowhere near as good as the WaW campaign
Will happily skip this years iteration in favor of playing all the older CODs that just had the multiplayer fixed.
I’ll just wait until it’s on PS+. It’s where I’ve got all my other COD games from 😬
Why change from green
I guess you could say that’s a Monster leak 😉😉😉
I thought it had a green 3 and not a red III.
Even Cap’n Price knows it’s gonna suck
Part of why I bought into MW2 was because of their promises to support the game so much, take 2 years between the next so focus would be better, yadda yadda yadda.
They tricked me one last time. Series is dead to me.
@StrawberryTurtle I agree - I don't get it. I haven't been interested in Call of Duty since Modern Warfare 2....on X360.
But I didn't get into Call of Duty until Call of Duty 2 (PC). Skipped Call of Duty 3. I got MW and MW2 and that basically ended interest for me.
Always thought the original MW3 cover was George Michael
@MFTWrecks Same, and it released in beta form. So much was missing, even simple menus and options that have always been there. I played warzone when it came out but MW2 was the first one I bought since black ops 2. Never again.
@get2sammyb I feel its like any franchise if it has a story and I like the franchise I will want to go play it.
Originally I said to myself if Cod ever went to Xbox I wouldn't miss it as I would accept that but while I get to play it I may as well.
There is a lad at work who lives on those monster drinks. His teeth are awesome to behold and his skin tone is gollum-esque. Trying to have any form of discourse with him is fruitless as he talks at the speed of light. Maybe publishers should try and look for better promotions in light of all the health issues surrounding just about everybody these days..
@KaijuKaiser I did years ago, didn't buy a single call of duty on the PS4 for about 7 years until they released MW (2019)
@ItsBritneyB_tch As the other person replying said, yes they still all have SP campaigns (aside from BO4) and I can't speak for if they're as good as WaW or not as I've never played it, but most COD games I've played have very enjoyable campaigns. Infinite Warfare, Black Ops Cold War and Advanced Warfare have really really great campaigns IMO and are easily some of my favourite FPS campaigns.
@get2sammyb I just don't like the idea of the weapons being carried over.
I am in my 50's and the very reason I play this game is to unlock all the guns and get them to max level.
I usually discard it after a 4-5 month period once all of that is done, as I don't enjoy the game as much because it becomes a bit of a bore for me.
Hopefully we will have the option to start fresh, as if we didn't purchase MWII.
Cheers
@StrawberryTurtle
Fifa (Now EA Sports FC 24)
Call Of Duty
NBA 2K24
Consistently the best selling games of the year after year.
Baffles me too but If people have shown they are willing to pay £60-70 every year for a few updates, I would give the people what they accept from us as a publisher.
That’s the stuff that looks like battery acid that people drink by the pint at 8am, correct?
@StrawberryTurtle On the bright side, they are probably saving a ton of money not buying new games all time! 🤣
Not for me anymore but I’m sure there will be people like I used to be and getting really hyped about it now
I'm gonna stick with Activision's original plan and not pay for a main game release this year!
