Larian Studios has gone on record to say the PS5 version of Baldur's Gate 3 will feature complete parity with the current PC edition when it launches early next month, and the RPG's first patch shares a glimpse at the updates there is to look forward to. Available to scroll through on the official Baldur's Gate 3 website, a frankly absurd list of over 1,000 bug fixes and changes can be viewed, and they'll all be there in the PS5 version too on 6th September 2023.
As a quick summary, the developer said: "We've eliminated issues like NPCs who sometimes spot you when they really shouldn't be able to, floating items like mugs and newspapers that should abide the laws of gravity, and the conclusion to Shadowheart's romance scene not triggering for some players, among others."
The best part is PS5 owners should have another update baked into their launch experience as Larian Studios teases PC players "won’t be waiting long for Patch 2, which is right around the corner". This one should focus on "significant performance improvements". Alongside Larian Studios' first official patch for Baldur's Gate 3, the game has also benefited from four hotfixes — again, these will be part of the PS5 version upon release.

I am keeping fingers crossed for cross-platform before I jump in. I would love to play this with some old TTRPG friends (including my wife). Otherwise, I am honestly not a big enough fan of either D&D or CRPGs.
Fantastic! Sometimes I wonder if the extra month wait will be for the better if I'm honest.
I hope the visuals and performance is up to good spec PCs.
Do we know if Baldur’s Gate 3 will have a physical edition on PS5, or is it digital only?
[EDIT] I just found another post here on Push Square from last week, stating there will be a physical release in Japan, but apparently not over here in the UK or Europe and North America, etc.
Oooh, just over a week until I get to play this! Just me, this game and 7 days off work! I’ve been playing through the older Baldur’s Gate games for the first time and it’s made me want this even more!
Increasingly hyped for this. Taking a rare day off to play on day 1 (for the standard edition so Wednesday the 6th)
I'm going to wait a few months, see what everyone has to say about how it runs on the PS5, and hopefully get a few more patches and updates. Then we'll see.
Any idea what the file size is yet?
Shouldn't this be the way release digital and start patching. In the end release a physical package that patched as good as possible.
Given the complexity, as well as talk of increased bugs further into the game, they'll probably be patching this for some time. Like the Divinity games, I really hope this culminates in a physical 'Definitive/Enhanced' edition in a year's time 😀
@Shadcai nothing exact yet, but they say more than 100. From what I have found
@The_Pixel_King Because the game is not being self-published in Japan like it is everywhere else. Someone is paying to make a physical edition that's why they are getting it.
Waiting until patch 1.04 which is traditionally when the inevitable save data eating bugs get squashed.
@The_Pixel_King Maybe import the Japanese version if it has English as an option - which it should honestly.
@sanderson72 Loved playing the Hoard demo, appreciate the pfp!
I'm still hoping for keyboard and mouse support on the PS5 version, however unlikely that might be. People have been asking Larian about it but they haven't said anything about it and I'm thinking they're not gonna do it. If they had put in keyboard and mouse support, I think they would have just said so and get a ton more sales from that news.
@CastelloGG That’s a niche market. There’s a very small number of people that understand you can even hook up a KB&M on a PS5, and a niche if that small portion that would even do it.
It might be nice for a few people, but it wouldn’t make much of a sales difference.
