Rally fans are in for an exciting week, as EA Sports WRC launches on PS5. Arriving on 3rd November, or 31st October if you've pre-ordered, the game comes from Codemasters, building on its previous hardcore rally titles and folding in the official World Rally Championship licence. To celebrate the launch, EA has released a new trailer, and it should whet the appetite of any petrolheads.
Based on what we've seen of the game in the lead up to launch — and on the strength of Codies' DiRT Rally games — we're pretty excited for this one. Though we've yet to play it ourselves, all signs suggest this is basically DiRT Rally 3 in all but name, with the added benefit of official cars, teams, and stages.
The launch trailer has us hyped and ready to kick up some dust, but what about you? Are you excited for EA Sports WRC? Hairpin right into the comments section below.

Pre-ordered, pre-loaded and counting down the hours. Love Codies’ rally games so this was a no-brainer.
Looking forward to starting this tomorrow. Dirt rally 2.0 plat tonight for number 250!
Here's hoping for a PSVR2 announcement in the near future.
Looking forward to this, got the rig setup and ready
Stoked for this! Will be a nice wake up present for tomorrow morning 😬
Reeeaaaallllyyyy (rally) hoping this lives up to the hype!
It’s looking great and it’s just around the hairpin (right).
My one big complaint with generations was the post-race ghost uploading times. I hate sitting there while it uploads times to the server that I could give a rats behind about. I’ve resorted to shutting wi-fi completely off on my console when playing generations and when I do, I can hop right into the next race almost instantly. Otherwise it takes a good 15 seconds of sitting there just waiting. Sometimes it even freezes… it’s annoying mostly.
Hope this does away with it or makes it an option to upload ghost saves!
I am actually considering getting up at 04:00 to start playing. Too excited!
@Nexozi ....better than my 10 ! 🤣🤣
I wonder why it's only £38 to buy unlike most new releases?
One i will defenately get if it reviews well. Loved the previous WRC games so this should be good with Codies taking the helm. Lets hope it hasnt been "EA'd" (microtransaction orgy) too much.
@DonkeyFantasy IIRC, the first Dirt game was a rebranded sequel to the Colin McRae games. But over time, the Dirt sequels became more and more arcade-y. The Dirt Rally games were made to give people a more hardcore sim series — alongside the Dirt releases — and this EA WRC game is a rebranded sequel to those.
Personally, I didn’t like the latest games in either of those series. Dirt Rally 2.0 was so hardcore that it took the fun out of rally games, and Dirt 5 is unrecognizable as a rally game.
I prefer the older games with the WRC branding, made by completely different developers. I’ve really only played WRC 9, so I can’t speak for the older games — or the two newer games in that series — but I feel like it has a better balance between realism and fun-to-play. But I might be in the minority in this opinion; it seems like most people prefer Dirt Rally.
So I don’t know if I’ll like this game or not. Especially now that EA has their microtransaction-y hands all over it.
@Impossibilium WRC 10 and Generations were really good games. I loved my time with them both. They kept that balance you talked about.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Awesome. I’ve heard mixed reviews, so I wasn’t sure. Still haven’t got my full time outta 9 yet, but when I do, I’ll probably pick the others up when they go on sale.
@Impossibilium they are on sale all the time. Infact WRC generations is £17.49 right now in the sale. I really enjoyed it.
Pre ordered the physical edition which I hope is with me by Friday. Hope anyone who has it downloaded today is enjoying it! Seems a complete rally package from the preview videos and trailers.
