Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is finally here, welcoming us all back to this New York superhero extravaganza with a warm embrace. We think this is Insomniac Games’ best Spider-Man game to date, and you can read all about it in our Spider-Man 2 review. However, today we’re doing a bit of pixel-peeping to see just how far Peter and Miles’ latest outing is pushing the PS5 graphically.
From fast travel changes to street density, there’s a lot of improvements to behold when comparing Spider-Man 2 to its predecessors, Spider-Man Remastered and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. If you head on over to the Push Square YouTube channel, you can find a crispy 4K video, comparing different landmarks, mechanics, and the overall map.
Standing on its own it’s easy to see Spider-Man 2 as a small upgrade, but side-by-side comparisons reveal just how far the series has come. New York has never looked better, and it’s never felt better to thwip ourselves across the concrete jungle.
Do you think Spider-Man 2 is a big upgrade over the previous games? Let us know down in the comments.

Now that's one big puddle!
Wow...amazing differences. I'm not sure how much is color palette and textures for some of those shots, but there's a lot more detail no matter how you look at it.
Love the comparison, and the lack of spoilers - thanks!
Incredible. I'd really like to see the difference between the vanilla PS4 version and Spider-Man 2, too.
Been replaying SM Remastered in build up and its very easy to spot the various changes.
I've not played either Remastered or MM for a while now but this really does look fantastic, the opening set piece was stunning.
I get that Spider-Man lives in NYC but I wish that they would do a different city for a change.
I see AMBROCHE clearly owns that ad space lol
But 🕷 spiderman 2018 got a 9 from pushsquare.🤔.but 🕷spiderman 2 is amazing.word up son
Very nice. It looks even better in motion. Great to see studios pushing things forward.
Fun and Stunning, that is what I expect for my money.
Just imagine how good this game would look if it was made for the PS6. Missed opportunity.
@playstation1995 word up, Dad 🫡
Heard something about puddles? This game have puddles?
I've come here for ray traced puddles and left sattisfied.
I had dinner in Manhattan last night, visiting my wife's friends who unbeknownst to us bought an apartment in the city last year, and now I just want to check it out. My parents still live in Queens in my childhood home but the game map doesn't go that far east.😝
@Jayslow Oh no you didn't...
@rjejr just stay away from radioactive spiders and you'll be fine
I kinda think the lighting looks more realistic in the original remaster to be honest, the hazy look is just more like that of a big city from high up in a building. I guess it's on if you really like the saturated look.
I've noticed that without a comparison video already. This game is a gaming climax in every way.
I played through Spider-Man Remastered earlier in the year, and Miles Morales just last month, and I instantly noticed a big jump with Spider-man 2.
Textures, geometry, draw distance, traversal speed, and combat all make for next-gen feeling experience. The combat in particular is noticeably more cinematic. The triangle+circle finishers in this game are absolutely epic! Much improved over the first two games.
I'm playing it and loving it, the city certainly looks beautiful. However, some of the character models in the cutscenes look downright terrible. They're usually the genetic goons and whatnot, but it feels like that's where Insomniac cut the biggest corners.
It's too hard for me not to spend hours just swinging the city without doing anything in particular. One of the most satisfying and relaxing sensations ever experienced in a game
It really is superb, looks fabulous and plays incredible.

Or imagine how great Spiderman 3 will look on the PS6. Insomniac said they wanted to do a trilogy just after first released and as good as they sell I'm sure we get the entire trilogy plus "spinoffs" like Miles Morales, maybe a Venom one.
I'm sure you get great Insomniac games on PS6 too, don't worry.
If you want to "worry", ask yourself what does the other PS studios bring to the table at the moment...
@tselliot No spiders, still searching for a gamma bomb.
I just finally got around to hearing Miles Morales last week. Well, the main story and side missions anyway, I'll just pass on the rest.
Good thing MM was as short as it was, I was worried it'd take too long and I'd get burnout prior to the release of Spider-Man 2.
@rjejr Born and raised in Queens myself.
@Realist Represent.👍
