Following a fresh information blowout last week, we were left wondering when we'd see Unicorn Overlord in action. Vanillaware's upcoming strategy RPG has already shown huge promise, but it's always best to wait on actual gameplay footage before getting carried away with the hype.
Fortunately, Japanese publication Famitsu has released nearly eight minutes of gameplay — and yes, Unicorn Overlord really does look that good. The video covers all of the title's key components, showing off map exploration, dialogue scenes, army management, combat, and food illustrations that'll make your mouth water (in typical Vanillaware fashion).

Again, the potential is clear to see, and the good news is that we won't have to wait too long for the game's arrival. Unicorn Overlord is still set to release worldwide for PS5 and PS4 on the 8th March.

I’m so hyped for this.
awful name but vanillaware doesn't miss
Gorgeous, gorgeous game
Already pre-ordered, and will release about the same time I purchase my very own PS5. Good times ahead!
Gives me Valkyrie Profile, and Growlanser vibes. That what comes to mind..Looks cool..
It really does look amazing
Can someone describe in a couple sentences what they like visually about the game? By no means is it ugly and I'm not trying to hate on it, I just don't get what makes it so special in that regard.
@tedinthepaint you either love Vanillaware art style or you don’t.
13 Sentinels Aegis Rim is one of my favourite games ever. I look forward to seeing more of this in the future!
Looks lovely mostly, and pretty unique in places.
Though I’m not a fan of the constant depth of field effect in the open world. I didn’t like it in Zelda links awakening remake or Octopath Traveller. It means only a small strip in the middle is in focus, the rest is blurry. Plus it makes everything look like a miniatures set.
The open world combat part looks looks more like a RTS will be interesting to see how it works and gels with the closer combat.
Side note: I recognise that Japanese VA at the beginning but can’t place it…. Is it Aizen from Bleach?
