Konami has revealed that another patch for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is incoming for PlayStation players and is expected to arrive on PS5 and PS4 in early January. It'll add a plethora of screen settings to play around with, hopefully allowing for a more authentic tactical espionage experience.
Already live on PC, update 1.4.0 will add multiple options for PlayStation players to tweak, including smoothing, game screen settings (standard, pixel perfect, 16:9), screen filter, and additional audio settings. For a truly exhaustive list of comparison images, Konami went all out in the patch notes, detailing differences that we have to squint a little bit to see.
Maybe our eyes aren't discerning enough, but we're willing to defer to the Metal Gear fans in the audience. What do you think of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection's upcoming update? Let us know in the comments section below.

I feel as if people have forgotten what sort of company Konami is.
What does "more authentic" experience mean in this case?
Does anyone know - is this getting a physical release on PS4? Amazon UK had it for 31 December release and Amazon DE has it for 7th March release. I know what Amazon are like and it might be false information.
There's other fixes not included in the patch notes also, sound issues in MGS1 are fixed, some legacy bugs from the HD Collection like MGS3 face paints using lower quality textures are addressed, etc.
Still some way to go, before it's ideal, but it's a solid improvement.
@InsaneWade I'd rather they improved the quality of emulation in MGS1. Still reluctant to buy this because of the poor quality of that game.
@ZhuckelDror yes same here i nearly bought it on sale yesterday but thr screenshots of the first just put me off.
they turned a collection of decades-old games into gaas for fixes and patches haha. maybe by 2025 they will have completed development on these shoddy ports and they will play as intended? by then the price will have dropped to $20. what a fail in a long list of failures for konami.
Whoa whoa whoa, hold on a sec...was it always possible to buy 1, 2, or 3 of this collection separately? I'm looking at Snake Eater on sale for $15.99 on the PS store right now...
@GKT Are you sure you're not looking at the Snake Eater remake? That's been announced on PS Store but it's not on sale yet.
None of the other original games are on there.
@gezkc Here on the U.S. site it shows you can buy each individual game in the collection for $20, with Snake Eater being on sale currently for $15.99
@GKT
Sorry, yes you're right!
On the UK site it also lists the 3 individual games separately for £15.99 each. You have to click within the Master Collection bundle to see the individual games, but they're definitely there.
Thanks - I would never have spotted that!
@gezkc No problem! It's kinda strange since I haven't heard anything about them being sold individually. Not complaining though 🙂
@GKT Me neither! 🙂
