Tekken 8 will be getting a playable demo on PS5 this week, Bandai Namco has announced. Releasing at 8am GMT on the 14th December — a full week before it's available on Xbox and PC — the demo will include limited versions of Story Mode, Arcade Quest, offline Versus, and Gallery. Still, this sounds like a robust demo, and something that Tekken fans will definitely want to check out.
We're also going to assume that the full character roster won't be available. When Bandai Namco releases more information, we'll be sure to update this article.
With Tekken 8 releasing next month on the 26th January, the demo should present a perfect opportunity to get stuck in before launch. Even better, if your favourite characters happen to be included, you can start practicing your combos well in advance.

Oh I am very excited for this. The best fighting game is back and it looks gorgeous
@AFCC the best fighting game in your opinion you mean. I love tekken but in my opinion sf6 is better. I’m still super excited to try out the single player demo content I already got the game preordered after the last beta .
Definitely my most anticipated upcoming title, great were getting a demo!
Yes! Was hoping for a demo!
@redd214 Tekken 8 is tied with rise of the Ronin for my anticipated game of the year for 2023. Tekken 8 gameplay was great in the betas the only thing I’m worried about is the netcode which was hit or miss.
@Jay767 good to hear. I missed out on the betas but happy it played well. I almost never play online outside of getting trophy requirements done but I hope they improved it for ya!
Looking forward to this but does anybody know or heard anything about team battle mode, ive looked all over to try and find any information but with no luck, at this point I'm assuming that it won't be in the game
Don't need a demo to know this is a day 1 buy but i shell try it regardless.
Great news. Fighting sticks at the ready!
Can’t wait for this!
man it sucks that fighting games are more popular on console than PC, i don’t want to pay for online
Apparently only Jin, Kaz, Paul and Nina will be available on the demo. Weak af, I don't play any of these characters.
Ooo, definitely have to give the demo a try. Really looking forward to getting back into Tekken again.
Has anyone tried a leverless controller like a Razer Kitsune?
Or should I go for a traditional fightstick (which I am already used to) ??
I have my eyes on the Nacon Daija for PS5, but I like the artwork on the Razer Kitsune - Cammy edition.
Super expensive accessories though...
@nomither6 Fighting games has always been more popular on consoles than PC. Valid point about free online.
Excellent. I’m definitely down for a demo.
i like that fighting games are getting this hype and excitement other games have been getting , between mk1 , sf6 , and tekken 8 , if you enjoy one , or two , all 3 of them , fighting game fans are eating good these days.
Oh ok! Between this and GOW Ragnarok: Valhalla (hyped for the game but the name is terrible!) they really don’t want me to start the Crisis Core remake 😂 I wanted to go through it before rebirth
Definitely have to try it out. I’m wondering which characters will be playable.
I love Tekken. I am greatly looking forward to buying this game in a couple of years when it is the complete package and doesn't cost over $100.
MK1 burned me on fighting games for a while.. looks good tho
I love me a good Tekken but can’t see it gripping me like SF6 did. I’ll give the demo a go and probably pick the full game up when it’s cheaper.
This is great news, my fighting stick is ready!
@Jay767 SF6 is cool, way better than Tekken. But it will never match Tekken's characters, visuals, smooth gameplay.
But obviously this is my opinion
Ive been a huge fan of Tekken ever since it was released. I spent more time playing Tekken in Japan than watching football while I was there for the world cup! But Tekken 7 rubbed me up the wrong way. Returning fighters wont be paid dlc. Paying for extra modes that used to free, tekken bowl, if it was online or upto 6 players it may have been worth it. Guest fighters were terrible. And not enough offline content. Lag online was also an issue, especially with lack of offline modes. Played the beta for 8 and it seems it is catering more for new fans rather than old timers like myself. Too many super special combos that eat too much health. The skill of learning your oponents moves and your own tactics and combos seems to be left behind. While I still find Tekken enjoyable losing 2 of my mains over the last few games, Baek and Heihachi has only dampened it further. I can see why they want to make Tekken easier for new comers as to a novice its daunting. None of my mates will take me on! They will play FIFA though as my team United is easier to beat these days!
