Helldivers 2's meteoric success has been something of a double-edged sword for developer Arrowhead Game Studio. On the one hand, the studio has an instant classic; on the other, the price of that popularity means Helldivers 2 still suffers from constant connection issues. Fans who have been remarkably patient with the consistent server strain plaguing the game since launch have begun to turn on one another, resorting to selfish, individualistic methods when they should be banding together for the greater glory of Super Earth.
Spotted by IGN, over on the Helldivers subreddit, frustrated players are calling for Arrowhead to implement some form of AFK (away-from-keyboard) auto-kick feature after many players began admitting to staying logged in in order to keep playing and avoid the dreaded game of chance that is connecting to the game's servers. It's a problem in desperate need of a solution.
Arrowhead commander-in-chief Johan Pilestedt was made aware of the issue, and confirmed that the devs are looking into the situation. "Agreed, I have already mentioned this to the team," Pilestedt said. In other Helldivers news, envious Xbox players are petitioning Arrowhead to bring the game to the platform, following comments regarding the game's exclusivity made by Xbox boss Phil Spencer.
