FromSoftware's magnum opus, Elden Ring, has passed another impressive sales milestone, with the Souls-Like great having shipped more than 23 million copies to date. Publisher Bandai Namco announced the impressive figure following the reveal of its eagerly anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
This figure includes shipped copies of physical versions, as well as downloadable sales, including those on Steam, which goes to show how far into the mainstream Elden Ring managed to break through. Hogwarts Legacy was the best-selling game of 2023, for example, having sold somewhere in the realm of 22 million copies last we checked; not a bad effort from Elden Ring, then, eh? A hardcore action game synonymous with high difficulty, entering the same territory almost two years to the day from launch is pretty impressive stuff.
If you missed it, be sure to check out Shadow of the Erdtree's atmospheric reveal trailer. FromSoftware says that an Elden Ring sequel is not currently on the cards, but wouldn't rule out the possibility entirely.

Not surprised at all. Awesome game. Skyrim was a game I really enjoyed when it launched but I always felt it could have been more. The combat whilst fun was always lacking something. Then along came elden ring and it was everything I wished skyrim could have been and then some. Some people platinumed elden ring within a week but having limited time and other responsibilities meant that it took me around 12 months to clear up but what 12 months it was. Really looking forwards to the dlc but it'll have to wait until dragons dogma 2 is done with.
"which goes to show how far into the mainstream Elden Ring managed to break through.'
And low-key, it's why certain fans would say they don't like ER but prefer the others, because it's mainstream, so pathetic some people.
Well deserved success, it' just phenomenal what FS achieved with ER...looking forward to playing DLC.
God I'd like to know immediately what they will be up to next after ER but I'm afraid it will take a long time they will announce anything
@TheArt 100% agree
