Almost four years after its PS5 reveal at Sony's own Future of Gaming event, Little Devil Inside has resurfaced with an important update and a new trailer that represents what developer Neostream has been working on in Unreal Engine 5. Addressed to its Kickstarter backers (the game was a Kickstarter long before the Sony announcement), it's explained in poetic fashion that the studio grew in order to create Little Devil Inside, but is now back to a "smaller, bonded team" in search of a publisher.
Those still at Neostream have a common purpose: "just to make a great game". The update continues: "All our core founding and starting members still here with the duty and conscience to fulfil what we set out to do. We know this doesn't and shouldn't justify for all the delays and lack of news but we're still here, have been and always will be." It believes it's now in a "much stronger" position to deliver Little Devil Inside, which you can see in action above.
The team explains it's now opened talks with publishers, which means it'll soon "be able to answer what everyone wants to know". Presumably, the team is referring to a release date. "Thank you all. For everything. We've not forgotten. Never will," Neostream signs off saying.
What do you think of the new Little Devil Inside gameplay? When do you think it'll finally launch? Let us know in the comments below.

I remember when the PS5 games were showcased on the first showcase and this was the game that stood out the most to me. Can not wait to play this!
Artstyle and animation look amazing! Still not sure what it's about
Is it normal to be 4 years into development without a publisher? That seems like a worrying sign when you've no guaranteed income or way to release the game.
I thought maybe PlayStation would be publishing it the way they were marketing it at first. But now I get the feeling Sony may not like what they have seen hence why they haven't shown anything of the game in a long time.
I hope this gets published as I think this some real potential to be great.
This game looks fantastic and much bigger than i thought
All this wait for a 5 hour experience, sigh
I love the look of the over world so much. Really hoping this sees the light of day.
@SamMR you know this is the length of the game because……?
This has been in development for a decade, the Kickstarter closed in 2015 with a stretch goal of the Wii U.
I wish them well and hope the game is good, but development hell doesn't begin to describe this. That said we just saw Skull & Bones get released so who knows! Fingers crossed.
Considering I mostly play indie and retro games now, I hope this game come out soon since I still want to play this
@themightyant fair comments👍🏻 but they are a small team so things take longer.
Stray was a small team and a loooong time in development but they released a fantastic game.
No man’s sky. Again small team, really dodgy release but given time they produced.
I hope people don’t write this off so early.
Charming stylisation, but I can sense why Sony got cold feet: fps is visibly below 30 in scenes with heavy weather effects, combat looks like your average indie Souls wannabe, and all internal deadlines must have been missed by a mile. Still, wish them luck to salvage what they can and ship it eventually, even if that means some downscaling.
@PSme I'm not writing it off, just rightly sceptical after they disappeared from Kickstarter for 4 years with no updates to their backers, that doesn't instil confidence. But I wish them luck.
However neither of these two examples are similar to Little Devil Inside really.
Stray was announced in 2020 and released in 2022. While it was in development for around 7 years some of that was pre-production with just two people, it took around 5 years once funded by Annapurna.
NMS initial release was OK, if lacking depth, it just wasn't the deeper game fans wanted or expected based on their over exaggerated marketing. But It only took around 3 years to develop. (obviously there's been plenty more post release)
Scope looks pretty insane. I don't entirely understand what type of game it is, kind of bounces around every genre.
I'm very interested though. They should approach Annapurna, Devolver or Private Division.
I'm not sold on the art. The hyper realism of some of the textures, lighting and world map are a little jarring with character designs. Kind of a Good Dinosaur thing going on.
@themightyant totally agree with you Sir, I just get the feeling that this will be written off before getting a fair chance. Also didn’t know about the no update on kickstarter, THAT is bad. Always talk to your money providers.
Definitely wrote them off! Excited to hear that there is still hope.
Although I’ve heard this game’s name bounced around, I knew nothing about it until I just now watched this video.
I’m not quite sure based on the video what the game really is, although I can see that the quirkiness of it is likely intentional. Looks a bit like an old PS1/PS2 JRPG with a Western indie coat of paint and a more updated action combat rather than turn based. And there might be some survival mechanics…?
Anyways, my interest is barely piqued after watching the video, but 3D isometric games don’t always appeal to me. I tried Death’s Door last year and didn’t end up sticking with it very long.
Looks as charming as ever. Hopefully they don't overdo the difficulty level, as indie devs are wont to do.
I LOVE the aesthetic of this. Everything about its visuals evokes the feeling of a hand-crafted little village set.
Damn. Finally. I thought this game died already after no recent news. This look so fun and i adored the art style. I can’t wait to play and see the final product
Framerate looks rough and the combat looks awkward. But I am still willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now. However, the talk about genuinely finding a publisher suggests relations with Sony soured significantly. Which isn't entirely surprising after 4 years of silence. Not a day 1 game for me any longer, but I will be paying attention to developments.
@Herculean they are a team in South Korea I believe, so the choice of “genuinely” may just be an issue with translation.
Looks awesome! Too risky to back but will look into it if/when it ever releases.
@UltimateOtaku91 this is exactly what is happening. The way they talk it looks like sony gave them development money ONCE and never gave them money again because of the internal problems the studio had to put their ideas together about the game.
Who's even looking out for this game any more 💀
A particularly extended development period doesn't always indicate trouble; Harold Halibut has been in development for 8 years but the Steam demo was great and it's due out later on the year. Kentucky Route Zero is another, it was released in acts but there were years between the final few instalments.
It looks really goid.and bloodier also.more games is always cool.word up son
@Benjiro It doesn't say they're looking for a publisher, just that they are in talks about publishing, which I understood as releasing.
''We have genuinely started discussions regarding publishing and once this clears out, hopefully we'll be able to answer what everyone wants to know.''
It's just a cryptic quote, and I wouldn't read too much into it. What everyone wants to know can be a multitude of things; could be release date, could be platforms. Would a Sony backed game be PS5 exclusive, or did they find another publisher to go multiplat (they got some backlash when Sony announced it in their State of Play).
Keep in mind that the devs are based in SK, so translating issues could also be at play here.
Either way, they're still working on the game, which is good to see. I'll come out eventually for sure. And it looks like it's progressing well. Yeah, framerate looks a bit shoddy, but they also said they just wanted to release some footage to prove it's still alive, and with no release date, I can only assume it takes at least another year or so. Let's hope they can get it running a little better when it comes out.
I thought this game was a scam and never coming out. I guess we'll see if it actually makes it to release this time.
