Super Monkey Ball and Nintendo will forever be intrinsically linked, because the original game first found fame on GameCube. Since those halcyon days, however, SEGA has enjoyed success with the series on pretty much all platforms, so it’s a shame to see the newest entry, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble, skip Sony’s systems entirely.
Announced exclusively for Nintendo Switch as part of a Partner Showcase earlier today, the new title follows in the footsteps of its predecessors, seeing you shepherd delightfully animated apes across increasingly precarious platforms. There’s even an online multiplayer mode for up to 16-players which looks delightfully chaotic.
In this day and age, exclusives don’t always remain exclusive for long, but this wasn’t pitched as a “console debut” or any other suspicious language like that. Looks like we’ll have to stick with Banana Mania for our Super Monkey Ball fix.
