Helldivers 2 players are now fully committed to the assault on the Automaton homeworlds in a preemptive campaign of "defensive annihilation". The first waves met stiff resistance from the machines, and the entire situation was at risk of becoming a dangerous quagmire for the forces of Freedom. Thankfully, seeing the situation developing, Super Earth is bringing out the big guns, unlocking two new Support Strategems to provide the power needed to punch through all that armour.
Courtesy of the Ministry of Defence, the LAS-99 Quasar Cannon and MG-101 Heavy Machine Gun are now available for immediate battlefield distribution. The Heavy Machine Gun is marketed as a "very powerful but difficult-to-wield machine gun with intense recoil", and the Quasar Cannon "charges up to fire a powerful, explosive energy burst". It will take some time to determine the efficacy of each, but initial reports from the frontlines seem promising:

@Ravensbane The Quasar Cannon is really good if you’re running with a well-equipped team. Can do a lot without needing to reload.

I like Stylosa's giddy enthusiasm, but in truth you have to work at using different weapons that suit you the individual I reckon. The amount of different Youtubers that think this weapon or that is better is varied. There's defo depth with loadouts considering fire modes, and strategy depending on teamwork or going solo etc.

Uhm, ::clears throat::, Game Developers, I'd like to draw your attention to the Twitter video shown above that was posted by Simon Cardy. Watch it until the player uses the gun, shoots down the ship, it explodes, and then the player lets a very satisfied chuckle. THIS IS WHAT GAMERS WANT. We want fun gameplay! If you keep delivering experiences that result in grown men/women, the youths too, chuckling like maniacs we can get this industry back on track.
The heavy machine gun rips through enemies, but runs out of ammo fast and super slow to reload.
