Horizon Forbidden West is coming to PC in the form of the Complete Edition on 21st March, where an entirely new audience of players can experience one of PlayStation's modern classics in even greater fidelity. Sony has released a trailer detailing some of the features, and some of Nixxes additions, which already has us considering a double dip.
With ultrawide display support, unlocked frame rates, customizable graphical settings, and bleeding-edge performance tech like NVIDIA DLSS 3 upscaling and frame generation, Guerrilla Games' latest has never looked better (and it looked stunning to begin with). If you missed the excellent Burning Shores expansion, that content comes bundled alongside previously released DLC, and that is another reason to consider a return to Aloy's wild world.
You can see how your system stacks up against the specifications below. Running everything maxed out, in 4K and at 60fps, will require a seriously beefy rig. But mid-range machines or players willing to compromise should have no trouble managing 1440p at much higher frame rates, which can be a transformative experience in an action-heavy game like this.

What do you think of Horizon Forbidden West's Complete Edition? Will you pick it up on PC, and if so, did you play on PlayStation previously? Let us know in the comments section below.

On that note, why's the complete edition so hard to find in the AU region and I think most of the EU?
Just imagine this game with mods........
I could buy the PC version, but i just got myself a PS5 a couple of months ago and i just bought this game for the console. I'm good.
I'd like.a physical PS5 UK release if possible. They only seemed to make 5 copies and sold them through playstation direct (long gone by now of-course).
Very high is a little bit more demanding, but high and below are not bad at all. My PC can easily do high at 1440p.
I’ll double dip on this if it runs at a playable level on the ROG Ally. The first one runs really well.
The fact Sony are releasing performance specs shows they’re still sailing on the Quadruple A business model to impress their customers. How they’ll continue to do so with their budget cuts remains a bit of a mystery.
RTX 4080 vs Radeon 7900XT for the same 4k@60 FPS resolution... Shouldn't that be RTX 4070 TI (Super) vs 7900XT?
On the other hand, DLSS is the only tech keeping nVidia's cards on top, so....
I wish there was a much stiffer competition in the GPU market, to drag the prices a few hundred $$$ lower per card tier... PC gaming has become a very expensive hobby since the RTX 2000 series and the boom of the mining ops ~5 years ago.
Especially if you have a 4k screen and want to get 4k@60fps with some kind of graphical settings that don't make the game look like 10-15 years ago...
@MrGawain I'm trying to interpret your comment but it's making little sense to me. Sony releasing specs for a PC verson - something PC releases have been doing since forever - is somehow a bad thing?
I can run it comfortably at 4K 60fps, but on no planet will I double dip on that one. Story was hot garbage this time around and the dialogue was written by a six year old.
I couldn't even finish burning shores, it hurt my ears and my soul.
Was absolutely gutted because I loved the first one.
My ageing PC would struggle to run that. Both my PC along with my PS4 are starting to show their limitations more.
That would melt my pc, I gave up on forbidden west when I couldn't take anymore of aloys attitude , she got more annoying as the game went on.
And yet it will hit 30fps in 1280 X 800 on Steamdeck. The little portable PS5 makes me wonder why even have the big brother anymore. If Ghost lands as predicted...I can probly pack it up.
Unless I'm missing some joke, the most "futuristic" part are the GPUs for Very High specs, and even they are already almost a year old or so.
I think I've purchased 4 monitors over the past 4 years, largest is 24", highest res I believe is 1080p. Obviously I'm not a PC gamer, neither of mine will run Win 11, just wondering when everyone started getting 4k PC monitors? 🤷
@anon_pel222 Aloy with a few more cup sizes pitched against a robotically screeching Thomas the Engine? Or even Barney to stay slightly more thematic?
@rjejr
I was using a 1440p monitor 13 years ago.
There is a rumor going around that Sony is developing their own store front for PC and at least 1st party games will have cross entitlements (ps5 purchases are playable on pc and vise versa).
I assume this would mean day 1 pc releases. Also the games probably wouldn't be sold on Steam, Epic, GOG, etc. I also wonder if they would try to force a subscription on pc players for online play.
@BacklogBrad The games would be sold on epic since Sony has contracts with them and they couldn't ever get away with a subscription to play online on pc it wouldn't end well for them
@ZhuckelDror " 13 years ago "
That's like a year after they came out so I'm going to call you an early adopter and not a typical PC user.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1440p
According to Steam, who knows just about everything about PC gamers, the majority, about 60%, are still using 1080p, w/ only about 20% using 1440 and the rest are just kinda spread out everywhere.

So going back to my original query of who's using 4k PC monitors, it's about 3.5%, or barely anyone. 🤷♂️
