Ubisoft's hotly anticipated PS5 game, Star Wars Outlaws, has been rated in Australia. The filing was made on 20th March (thanks, Kotaku), and there is speculation that a release date could be imminent, although that last part remains to be seen.
Outlaws has received a preliminary, standardised IARC (International Age Rating Coalition) rating of M (Mature Audiences) with advisories for online activity, science fiction themes, and violence. It sounds about in line with what one would expect from a Star Wars game, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor from developer Respawn received the same classification from the body back in 2022.
It's believed that Ubisoft is targeting a late 2024 release date for Outlaws, which could end up being a tentpole Holiday title. Following a group of down-on-their-luck rogues looking to score big in the lawless Outer Rim, Outlaws is being developed by Massive Entertainment, the Ubisoft studio responsible for The Division.
Are you looking forward to Star Wars Outlaws, or are these not the droids you're looking for? Let us know in the comments section below.

As I said on the Xbox site, this is easily one of my most anticipated games of this year. I can’t wait.
Gimme! I'm so ready for this one.
Typically games are given ratings classifications when they are near the finish line of release. If it's speculated to be a late 2024 release, then why are we getting this rating at least 6 months in advance?
Release date announcement on 4th May? Getting everything lined up ahead of that.
I really enjoy Ubisoft open world games. Sure, they don't do anything new and are mostly full of optional collection checklists but they're just a comfort zone I'm happy to spend hours in.
Other than the mc looking like sloth, the showcase they had looked pretty cool. But this is Ubisoft we are talking about, it could be a diamond in the rough this time around.
Probably mature for its "gambling themes' as apposed to say, blowing off limbs.

It looks good from the existing trailers, and I'm curious to see more.
But it's hard to get too excited about a Star Wars game, after so many previous/various letdowns.
I don't have a big problem with Ubisoft or it's Far Cry and Assassin's Creed games, finished most of them, and they're ok.
But I want to see some reviews first.
If it's gonna be worth playing, I'll get 1 month of Ubisoft+ and give it a try - cheapest way to go about it at least at launch.
@Icey664 out of curiosity what do you actually mean by 'woke'? Because I'm willing to give anyone the benefit of the doubt and not assume they're a sexist bigot scared witless by anyone that doesn't fit their narrow perception of reality.
@JB_Whiting that and Australia always seems to be extra tough on ratings sometimes to the point of screaming LEWD at the sight of an ankle.
Australia is not really a reference in terms of rating. For example they rated Regular Show the movie PG, not recommended for under 12 years old, and one of the reason is that Skips the Yeti can scare kids. He is the most friendly and lovable character of the show...
@PegasusActual93 it's pretty normal practice for ratings to come through 6+ months prior to launch. The release date and marketing cycle has not even started yet so I'd expect updates in may or June for a late 2024 launch.
Star Wars Outlaws "looks" like an amazing single player game. Hoping for some more gameplay footage or a demo.
Dropping a demo usually means the developer is very confident in their game.
Probably day one
I'm definitely rubbing my slacks in anticipation of this game.
Just because whenever Australia's ratings get brought up it leads to a bunch of overexaggerating in the comments, this is the equivalent of an ESRB Teen rating.
@B0udoir
You don't even have the PG rating right. It got it for mild violence and the PG is pretty much the same rating Regular Show normally gets around the world.
I'll be interested to watch some footage of the game that isn't complete bullshot, but we haven't gotten any yet.
I'm looking forward to this but I can't see it being in a playable state until early 2025.
