HBO's TV adaptation of The Last of Us recently began filming for season two, which will of course delve into the plot of the second game. The Last of Us: Part II had a larger cast, with quite a few side characters filling out the wider picture, and this will be reflected in the show. A whole bunch of these characters have now been cast.
Owen will be played by Spencer Lord, known for his roles in Riverdale, Heartland, and Family Law. Ariela Barer will portray Mel, Owen's partner; she's featured in the likes of Atypical, Runaways, and How to Blow Up a Pipeline.
The character Manny is being taken up by Danny Ramirez, who appeared in Top Gun: Maverick and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Tati Gabrielle (Uncharted, The 100) will be Nora. All four of these characters are members of the WLF, a militia group to which Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) also belongs.
The new cast members join season one's old guard, with Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, and Gabriel Luna as Tommy. Are you excited for the second season of The Last of Us? Discuss in the comments section below.

I had hoped the tv show would run concurrent timelines for Ellie and Abbey and the season end sometime during day 2 but since it’s the game makers running it seems like it’s going to follow the game as Yara and Lev haven’t been cast yet, (Ian Alexander should be Lev, unless they’re too old, but they did a good job playing basically the same character in season 3 of STD) which means the season almost certainly ends the first time in the theater, which means I don’t want to watch the following season, which means I don’t need to watch this season.
Anyone else play Spider-Man 2 and do that entire side plot line w/ Yuri having Seraphite Deja vu? 🤷🏻♂️
Wish I could see the actors without needing to go research…
A small effort to put the real actors next to it for comparison.
How are they gonna keep this thing going? I'm pretty sure The Last of Us Part 3 is not going to release before season 3 of the TV show.
Sounds like solid casting, but if my memory is right these characters were mostly firefly cannonfodder for Ellie, so nobody one should get attached to.
@GuttyYZ maybe they'll split part 2 in two seasons. And who knows how far part 3 is. They are working on multiple games so it might be further in development then most expect it to be.
Oh good, don’t like any of these actors, won’t mind when they die.
Owen and Mel were pretty big characters in the Abby storyline.
I agree, I think it’ll follow Abby and Ellie concurrently and end S2 in the Theater.
Will be interesting to see what Mazin does to make Part II's story less of a chore
@GuttyYZ Yeah I have a feeling it'll be like Game of Thrones where I read most of the books before watching the series the at some point gave up on the books and watched it instead. I'll be disappointed if that happens with LoU
@Korra lol I thought I thought I only one.
I think I may recongnise Nora remotely.....as one of the goons Ellie beats up. Shrug.
@zhoont I got you

@GuttyYZ I believe they’ve said they’re splitting Part 2 over two seasons, yeah.
@MB81 Owen and Mel were the only likable characters of the Salt Lake crew. Even after 4+ playthroughs, I still can't stand Manny or Nora.
@GuttyYZ the series could end where part 2 ends.
@BIG3 better still, before it starts 🤞
@theSpectre Interesting. I really really disliked the “sensitive frat boy with a tortured soul” character of Owen. I quite liked all these other side characters (especially Mel, but that’s mostly because she was voiced by Ashly Burch).
