NIS America, the publisher in charge of bringing Trails through Daybreak ā and all of Falcom's other RPGs ā to the West, has announced that it'll be hosting an "early look" livestream of the game next week. NISA's partnering with speedrun charity RPG Limit Break, and the broadcast will air through its Twitch channel on the 5th March at 5pm PST / 8pm EST, which equates to 1am GMT / 2am CET on the 6th March here in Europe.
This'll be the first time that we see localised gameplay from Trails through Daybreak, which originally launched in Japan all the way back in 2021. It's finally coming to PS5 and PS4 this summer in the West, but we don't have a specific release date yet. There's a chance that we get one during this stream ā but nothing's been confirmed.

It's between this and Metaphor Refantazio as far as my most anticipated game of the year goes. I absolutely loved Trails into Reverie last year and am very excited to see a new cast in a new setting for the series. Here's hoping the launch date isn't right around Shadow of the Erdtree!
I know its already been said but seriously what a year for JRPG fans!
I have the whole trails series sitting on my shelf waiting to be played but it's just such a big commitment. Not sure if I'll ever get round to it. I always find the artstyle in their games to be incredibly bland too. It's not the graphics but just bad art direction.
@Cloud39472 : If you don't like the artstyle don't force yourself. Sometimes it's worth though to get over certain humps. I for one am very glad I did. Nothing sits higher on my list since I started that series.
@Cloud39472 As a big fan of JRPGs I thought I'd love this series. I played Cold Steel 1 and while I did manage to get through it, the characters are incredibly dull. They all talk and think in a very flat and plain way. Almost like they're all Commander Data. "Sorry, I must refuse your invite for an alcoholic beverage, it would contravene several school rules. Quite frankly I'm disappointed in you," says a teenage boy invited for a beer by his hot teacher (paraphrased but genuinely in the same spirit). It'd be okay if he was meant to be autistic or otherwise unique in that way, but they're all like this. You could swap dialogue between characters in most cases and it wouldn't be noticeable.
There's no soul or spark to anyone. The best you can hope for is a single basic anime trope repeated endlessly in lieu of an actual personality, like the blonde guy and black-haired guy that bicker like kids but, to no one's surprise, end up being friends. I got partway through Cold Steel 2 and gave up.
@Matroska 1. You must be referring to Jusis and Macuis(forgot how to spell his name). They are the blonde boy and dark green haired dude.
2. Well,they are kids.
3. They speak that way because most of them are nobles or they come from a high class family.
That's all fine and dandy, but a Trails in the sky trilogy remaster would also be nice
@McBurn Usually I can get past a certain artstyle or bad graphics so It's usually not a problem. I think you're right though and I'll probably pass on it.
If I ever find myself with nothing to play then I'll give it a go.
@Matroska That's the other thing that puts me off because I've seen it mentioned before. I've also seen people say that the characters are deeper than their tropes too so it's conflicting. Definitely not an easy series to get into either way considering how many games are connected within it.
We need a date for the second game already. They seriously need to catch up.
@GigaGaia Unless they are doing it at the same time as this one we have maybe a 2 to 3 year wait they still have to give us Ys 10 as well. So we probably won't get the 3rd game until 2030 lol at least judging by their history.
@Cloud39472 This is unbelievably baffling. So, you bought a whole ass trilogy of games just to have them sit on the shelf lol Why didn't you do your research on the series, before buying any of them in the first place? That's a genuine question btw...
If the art style and "bland graphics" bother you that much. Then the IP certainly isn't for you.
@GilgaMax96 The same way a whole bunch of people have steam libraries full of games they've never played. They were cheap so I bought all of them as I kept hearing they were so great in Jrpg circles. Not really hard to understand is it?
But yes based on what others said, the series may not be for me but I also expressed my willingness to try if better games stop taking up my time.
You come across like I offended you or something. Should I apologise?
@Cloud39472 What are you talking about... Who's offended? But thanks for the answer though. It's clear and obvious you listen to word of mouth instead of initiating your own research. Regardless, cheap or not, it's silly to spend money on a whole trilogy only to complain about it. Would have saved yourself the hassle by buying one entry first and deciding then if it was for you.
But yeah, apparently I'm the one that's offended. I'm only pointing out your stupidity, so, stfu man. š
@GilgaMax96 You're not fooling anyone, throwing insults around shows that you're upset. It's OK, I apologise. I'll make sure to contact you for your expert opinion before I make any purchases in the future OK?
Iām excited about the new Trails game! Just finished Reverie on my Steam Deck. So excited for Calvard!
