Job Listing Confirms EA's Black Panther Game Is Open World 1

In case you'd forgotten, EA and its studio Cliffhanger Games is working on a Black Panther game. The announcement was one of those that's more of a recruitment drive than anything else, so it's likely still years away from release. In fact, the team is still growing; interestingly, one recent job opening confirms the game's structure will be that of an open world title.

We already knew this Black Panther game will be a third-person, single-player action adventure, and now we can safely say it's an open world one. The job listing is for a Principal Sandbox Designer, tasked with "designing and populating encounters, systems, and gameplay within a dynamic and evolving open world". Not a lot of room for interpretation there.

Back before the game was announced, Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb said it would be an open world experience. He also said the project is being led by Kevin Stephens, which has also turned out to be true. Stephens served as VP and studio head of Monolith Productions, known for open world titles Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War, and is now VP and Studio GM at Cliffhanger.

This game is not to be confused with Skydance's Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, which focuses on Black Panther as well as Captain America.
