Sony is sparing no expense on the promotion of upcoming PS5 exclusive Stellar Blade in Asia, as it’s hired Korean cheerleading sensation Lee Dahye to cosplay as protagonist Eve as part of a meet and greet in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Those who pre-order the game will have an opportunity to attend an event with the Dragon Beauties dancer, who’s one of the most prominent models in Taipei right now.
Despite surprisingly switching teams from the Taoyuan-based Rakuten Monkeys to the Wei Chuan Dragons in Hsinchu earlier this year, Lee Dahye is one of the most unavoidable figures in Taipei right now, advertising everything from iced tea to clothing and much more. Adding to her busy schedule, she just made her k-pop debut, too.

As we were able to confirm during an interview with developer Shift Up earlier in the year, Eve’s body in Stellar Blade is based on real-world Korean model Shin Jae-eun, although her face was designed entirely in-house. You can view a full list of All Outfits and How to Get Them in Stellar Blade through the link.
Ultimately, this won’t be an inexpensive event for Sony to put together, so it can be taken as a sign of confidence in Shift Up’s console debut, a game which has seen its consumer interest snowball in recent weeks.

@LikelySatan They're starting to come more often but the moderation team is pretty good at getting rid of their comments.
Glad to see Sony is keeping up with the theme of this game 😏
Very pretty model, but the cosplay material looks a bit cheap imo
Dope to see confidence in a new IP. After playing the demo Im sure Stellar Blade will be a fun time.
@breakneck bubble much.
@LikelySatan
Yeah, instead of incels we have people that are immediately writing off the game because the main character is, and I quote, "just a sex doll".
@LikelySatan I find the politicisation of women's bodies to be a fascinating topic and one that is deserving of a legit academic paper. Why is it that this game has gotten the extremists on both sides so excited/riled up and yet Solid Snake and Raiden with their skintight sneaking suits that show ''everything'' get a free pass?
We live in a society, that's for sure.
@LifeGirl There were a lot less of these extremists when MGS2 came out, that's for sure 😅
@Balie3000
I think the same amount of extremists existed back then, many of them just didn't have the platforms that we have today to express their "views".
@Balie3000 It is an interesting point. I suspect that in actuality the % of folks that feel aligned to one extreme or the other is much the same as its always been (humans dont evolve that quickly) but what has changed is the ability to communicate widely and at pace. Thus we have many more people able to latch-on to the latest band-wagon or group-think : perhaps because thats what the cool kids (in their blinkered view) are saying, perhaps they want to belong, perhaps they want to momentarily stand out. In actuality they are really no more extreme than aunt Matilda from Blackburn and will align to the next fad-think just as willingly and fleetingly.
I'm glad sony 100% backing this game, and shift up decision to release the demo is the right one, I remember preordering nier automata back then on ps4 after I tried the demo. Can't wait for this game
@ATaco I think that super racist and sexist, the model is based on real korean woman, are they lowkey saying korean woman are just sex dolls? What a heinous things to say.
@lindos True, but the problem here is that suddenly a tiny group has more rights that the big one...
As for the game, I checked the DEMO, I expected it to be much harder ( not that it is easy) but I might check it out later in teh year. Before the DEMO I was 100% NO, but now I pinged it in the wishlist. I am supporter of the DEMO approach.
(turning the time machine on - how cant I be a fan of the demos since back in the 90's the only way to check on some games was DEMO CDs in the PC magazines . It was so cool though )
@LifeGirl one thing that comes to mind, albeit a tiny part is Ghost of Tsushima when Jin soaks in the hot springs and it shows a full naked rear shot of his tight buns then when hes done he stands up and turns around and the scene cuts right before his pecker comes in to view from behind his thigh. I didnt hear a single uproar about it at all. Not that it bothers me, just a flipped take on an issue.
@ATaco I mean, I think it's embarrassing af but that's just my own sensibilities. I also love GWAR. This just isn't my flavor of dumb.
@LifeGirl @Kidfunkadelic83 #mariosnipples #neverforget
@LifeGirl Good news is there's plenty of papers out there if you want to read up on it. But I can't tell if you are joking, cause each of these sentences is like a reddit bumper sticker.
@LikelySatan i recommend the demo. the gameplay feels very unique even though it looks familiar
@LikelySatan It has definitely been blown out of proportion but it all started with some crude jokes that were then met with insults like what you're spouting and it just escalated from there so honestly from that comment you seem to be part of the problem.
@MrMagic seems more like it started with a take from IGN France that neckbeards were upset about because they'd use the platform differently if they had that kind of access, dag nabbit. "Neckbeards" means like a manchild that is angry his toys are being taken away. I'm not trying to be condescending.
... condescending is when you talk down to someone.
Anyway, then I just saw a flood of comments saying "man why are people so triggered? Why are SO MANY PEOPLE so mad about her design?" But that's nearly all I saw. A flood of reactions against an imaginary army of toy thieves.
For my part, like I said: I think it's cringe, but I'm not judging anyone that is into it. I like plenty of silly things. And it's just games.
As I had posted previously on another article, the controversy around this game is pretty ridiculous, but not surprising for today’s industry. I’m glad Sony are supporting this, although it’s clear they are marketing to the demographic in HK and Taipei.
I think the game looks cool, and hope it sees more support outside Asia.
@captainaverage I'm pretty sure the model was scanned from real life. Yeah. That writer seems not so smart.
Again, same comments here saying that this design is a controversy, but no one here saying they are upset about the design. Funny, huh? Done here byeeee.
@LikelySatan It started before that, they were arguing on places like Twitter and Reddit at first. Ironically an Xbox fanboy seems to be the one who started it because he was unhappy about the hate Starfield got so he tried to get people to turn on Stellar Blade but it seems he may have actually helped sell the game instead of hindering it.
At the same time there was a lot of crude jokes that some people thought were distasteful so they began to respond to them by calling people incels, neckbeards and perverts etc and it just escalated. Clout chasing YouTubers fanned the flames then IGN, Kotaku etc got involved and here we are.
All I'll say is that as a video game character give me Eve over Aloy any day of the week.
The overall response appears to be positive, which seems to be the case on this site. I would assume most are referring to the negative takes which have stirred on other platforms.
Im looking forward to this game but I’ll take aloy or whatever normal looking woman over eve’s generic pin head.
I like seeing Sony get behind a new IP. Hopefully it translates into great sales numbers.

I’ve seen a lot of the usual suspects saying “women don’t look like this”. Those people have never been to a beach in Spain or California 😂
@LikelySatan
"I'm glad this site doesn't bring out the incels screaming about this game elsewhere."
But it sure brings out the feminazis, soyboys, beta males, and white knights, doesn't it? On a side note do you even know what incel means? Appreciating and admiring female (or male) beauty in art and media does not make you an "incel". The term incel refers to a person who is unable to get a sexual partner and as a result, holds a grudge and resentment towards both women (for supposedly unjustly denying them sex) and sexually successful males (out of jealousy). They also often advocate celibacy and take pride in it. It is more of a "sour grapes" situation where if you can't have it you claim it sucks and you never wanted it in the first place. Fans of the fanservice games, Stellar Blade, and Shiftup's other games going crazy over Eve in no way fits the definition and characteristics of incels. They love beautiful women whether real or in art.
@LikelySatan "But I can't tell if you are joking, cause each of these sentences is like a reddit bumper sticker."
Translation: "people I disagree with on a site I do not like sound like you." Absolute cracker of an argument lol.
The game wouldn’t get that much attention if she wasn’t stacked.. the demo was boring (the boss was cool tbf).. yeah there are real women who look like this but shoving a woman’s fat a** in the players face the entire game is just a cry for media and incel attention.. someone mentioned Ghost of Tsushima when he gets in the hot tub (completely optional btw) and it shows his tiny man butt for 5 seconds and compared it to this game is ridiculous lol.. I have kids.. my kids would have to be at school or gone to their aunts house for me to play this.. fortunately the demo shows that the game sucks anyway so 🤷♂️
This news brings the cheerleader closer to LA Lakers.
Well, that's not bad... but just wait till you see my dance moves!

@Sergo the game director said the game difficulty does ramp up as the game progresses because he was advising players not use the skin suit In-game because of the effects of wearing it
I find hilarious that everybody has an opinion on women's representation without even knowing what is the Korean society. You all know that there is a social pressure for girls to do surgery and change their faces to match all the dolls models that you see in K-pop, right? This is a matter of showing your social class.
@LifeGirl I would read it! It is fascinating!
@Sergo I think everyone should have the same rights a big group or small. Thats why im always baffled when groups/people act more backwards then 30 plus years ago. Im 40 plus and it only seems to get worse.
If you get a gay/lesbian person in a game the world is on fire. Even some losers here on this site went out of their way to ruin the story of the Last of Us 2 because of Ellies sexual orientation. The woman with massive muscles brought us brought us the end of days its just sad.
Male characters are getting swapped out more because gaming is for a much bigger audience now girl, gay, straight, black, white, asian and so much more.
Stop crying when you get someone or something you dont like and if its to hard to handle go play something else. There are more then enough games to please the standard gamer.
@B0udoir The Western world isnt that different young kids are getting pressure from everywhere. Even at a young age they need to be better i had it easy as a kid when i look at the kids now.
How to look, how to be successful, how to act or even how to feel. Kids in this time and age and this part of the world have more then enough pressure on them.
@OneWingedAngel first of all, you took that well. Second, point to one post here that you can say is from a "soyboy, feminazi, whatever else you repeated from reddit." Again, imaginary enemies.
@Savage_Joe where did I say anything about being superior? Maybe you should read literally any of my comments. I said I think the design is cringe, but don't judge if someone likes it, that it's just not my flavor of stupid.
You guys getting upset that I characterized some of this fandom as incels is really, really funny though. Guess I spoke to soon.
@LifeGirl i was being serious. I couldn't tell if you were joking by making the kind of reply that the typical redditor would make. Like you were making fun of the most basic ass arguments, you know? But here we are...
Hopefully they bring it to PC soon so more people can play this game and see what it's about.
@Flaming_Kaiser We if it is same, then why in Banishers the lovers were 80% gay and 20 straight? No, things are not in proportion and the right for complain is the same.
@Nekotwili yes, with the skin suit we fight so badly no focus
@Sergo absolutely none 😂 monster would be right in front and we'd be completely distracted and die

@OneWingedAngel Well said. I was in the process of typing out a response but that one nailed it.

@CutchuSlow probably in a few years or so... Sony's gonna ride this one for awhile 👍🏾
@Dreamfire point to any of them here. They exist in your head.
Also, you just said unattractive women...and beautiful "girls." Interesting!

@LikelySatan Just because you’ve been looking at the wrong places doesn’t mean these “imaginary enemies” that you claim don’t exist. lol Look at streamers from YouTube and TikTok that are bashing the game and fans because of the way the protagonist is portrayed
@Savage_Joe She only had a body model, not a face model, so she wouldn't have looked like her anyway. It doesn't seem like they went with the cheaper option here, though I am absolutely clueless about Korean media personalities.
@Vinny_Vendetta all I saw on YouTube just from basic coverage was people yelling about just how controversial her design is and how the "woke mob" are triggered. Not a single person saying she shouldn't be designed the way she is. Some people saying "no thanks" and making fun of it, but that's it. And it seems to be the same people that were gross about TLoU and MK designs, etc. The vast majority are making a mountain out of a molehill.
The point was that I didn't go looking for videos or articles expressing any controversial opinion one way or the other. These people just show up. So are "the wrong places" anywhere this game is mentioned, or do I need to go looking for things to be angry about in order to see the imagined mob screaming about her design?
@LikelySatan You're going on and on about people fighting imaginary enemies when you were the first comment on an article about a cheerleader doing promotion for a game and instead of commenting on anything relevant you are pissing about incels.
Which means that you opened up this article looked at an empty comment section and was already looking for trouble, you're calling people neckbeards and incels yet you seem to match the description perfectly.

I'm just looking forward to the game, and could not care less about the discourse.
@Sergo I guess im not so busy with these things as you. Its Fantasy so they can make it how they like it most of the games are heterosexual oriented so dont worry you will have plenty of choice.
Even gay people can have a game that is oriented towards them. You know gay people dont start making a fuss about most games being mostly oriented towards heterosexuals. You cant have everything oriented about one group of people.
You know Fear Effect on the PS1 was with two lesbians aswell and nobody was crying about it. Its like people arw going backwards nowadays.
@Flaming_Kaiser Mostly true, but my comment was for fun but also true
One thing I do not agree is that lately the bigger fuss is if there are no gay, black, yellow.... or whatever differences in games, movies etc. So, the fuss is actully from one side.
Why is this a story? This is just model gets paid to model...real ground breaking....
@LifeGirl Raiden and Snake aren't walking around with the skin on their butt cheeks showing juggling around..... I wish it was but it's not happening... The camera isn't focused on their bulges pecs and etc either let's stop... Nor is their tone of their outfits being skin tight to be skimpy or fanservicy... Compared to woman men aren't as sexualized as y'all try to make it seem so let's not
@Sergo I think we as species seem to go backwards and we are way to busy with others. Play what you like and don't play what you dont like. I agree you donr have to be mad about everything all the time.
I have seen lots of cool games and i didnt like the protagonist or story, gameplay and i just skip or get it with a massive discount if im on the fence.
Digital only is something that makes that so much more easy its never really yours so why pay full price.
I especially have a massive amount of dislike towards free to play because i know its going to waste so much of my time thats the way they make money in the end.
@Flaming_Kaiser Ohh, on free to play and digital only, we are on the same side mate. For sure.
@Flaming_Kaiser Ah yes, Fear Effect. Good game. I miss that era.
Just for the record ladies and men. An incel is someone who doesn’t get any fun fun time- involuntary-celebate. You’re welcome
@exit I really don't understand why people have such a issue with with gay or lesbian characters. How it's possible to reverse in the freedoms we had. Like abortion and the right to be who you want to be in this time and age.

@Flaming_Kaiser Change. It’s happening on each side of the fence, people adopting views that would have otherwise remained in fringe groups, is my opinion. That goes for conservative, progressive and other types.
To be fair, games such as Fear Effect were portrayed very differently to modern mainstream titles. Changes to established franchises and certain trends are what is causing division. I get it though, different times, different demographic.
The best advice I can give to anybody is simply if you don’t like something, don’t buy it. If a product doesn’t perform, it will eventually adapt to meet the market.
