Yet another update has arrived for Dragon's Dogma 2, bringing more positive adjustments to the open world RPG. However, there's still no sign of further improvements to the game's technical performance on PS5, which is already rubbing some players the wrong way.
To be fair, patch 1.150 does include a nice boost to storage space, and a few annoying issues appear to have been addressed. The update's available to download now on Sony's system, weighing in at 516MB.
Dragon's Dogma 2 Update 1.150 Patch Notes
- Increasing the maximum number of items that can be put in the storage from 1000 to 3000.
- Fixing issues in which "Bandit Eyepatch" and "Lordly Eyepatch" were not available.
- Fixing issue with progression in the Guardian Gigantus quest becoming impossible after playing the cinematic.
- Fixing issues with Pawns' cosmetics appearing different in other players' worlds.
- Fixing some additional issues where the Main Pawn speaks support Pawn’s dialogue.
- Miscellaneous bug fixes.
So, the wait for a better frame rate continues. Weeks back, Capcom did say that it was working on improvements to performance — but we've heard nothing on that front since. If we're giving the developer the benefit of the doubt, it's entirely possible that these improvements are simply taking a long time to implement.
After all, the game's performance problems primarily stem from CPU-related optimisation — and that's not an easy fix when you've got intricate, always-on NPC systems in place.

I wouldn't hold my breath for any kind of significant performance patch.
No offense to Capcom, but I just don't see Capcom engineers spending too much more time figuring out ways to improve CPU performance for Dragon's Dogma 2.
They are probably already working on the next iteration of the RE Engine for the next Resident Evil game.
The better performance will have to wait until PS5 Pro or PS6 xD
That pawn thing, made my pawn permanently silent after repeatedly saying the support statements on repeat. Still surprised that that particular taught discipline isn’t more common.
I really hope that mh wilds doesn’t suffer from the same cpu limiting issues present in dragons dogma 2. I know those problems were mostly limited to the populated town areas and have been attributed to the complex behaviours of multiple npc’s in a small area. I’m slightly concerned that the gameplay mechanic of wilds revolving around ‘herds’ of monsters might lead to similar issues due to the numbers present in one area at a time.
Hopefully capcom have learnt from dragons dogma, although the fact we still haven’t got any more optimisations for the game since launch month suggests not.
@Neither_scene DD2 will have 100% been a testing bed for a lot of the tech that'll be present in MH Wilds, especially the more 'open world' stuff.
Like you say, we just have to hope that Capcom will smooth it out.
@WizzNL There really aren’t any significant performance issues on the PS5. I’ve put in 60 hours (still playing as we speak) and it runs smoothly.
Capcom really dropped the ball with this one, and it will have a knock on effect because i will more or less now ignore MH Wilds until 60fps is tested and confirmed (and by then I may have bought other games to play).
2 other people i spoke to today who actually own DD2 (I waited for performance reviews), when we were discussing the SofP from last night, more or less had written MHW off given their experiences with DD2's performance.
At this point I’d assume they ain’t bothering lol
No 60fps = still no buy
@Kraven the frame rate is not that bad. I'd be lying if I said it's not noticible as it is but it does not make the game unplayable in any way. I've not played it for a few weeks as I'm a helldivers 2 junkie but I'm intending to start over from the beginning soon. Brilliant game.
@WizzNL good for you 👍
@WizzNL some people have magical systems that never get fps drops or anything.
@SteveJaye some people just aren't that bothered by them.
@WizzNL There’s no reason to get so defensive or angry. All I am saying is that it’s not as bad as some people might expect. It runs smooth for me. But if you want to wait, that’s cool as well. I have just experienced the game and can say that I haven’t noticed much issues at all. Have a good day!
The framerate mainly dips in the big town, which aside from the occasional monster attack, doesn’t really involve anything that needs a perfectly smooth frame rate. I’ve only been playing for 20 hours so I’m not sure if certain areas tank the performance later on, but if not I think the whole thing has been over exaggerated and people are missing out on a great game.
I decided to give them some time to patch it up. It seemed wonderful from the few hours I played, but I kept hearing about bugs etc so I'm just going through the backlog a bit.
I think the whole performance issues is blown way out of proportion. I had zero issues when playing the game or if I did I was too busy enjoying it to notice.
