Two and a bit months after its release, Dragon's Dogma 2 has now sold 3 million copies. Last we heard, the open world RPG had topped 2.5 million in one week or so, which means it's managed an additional 500,000 sales since.
Given that the original Dragon's Dogma took years to really take off in a commercial sense, the sequel's success is quite impressive. Just recently, Capcom called Dragon's Dogma a "key brand" in its financials — alongside the likes of Monster Hunter — after the second game seemed to smash the company's expectations.
The question now, then, is whether Dragon's Dogma 2 has a tail. Continued update and a rumoured expansion could help with additional sales down the line, but Capcom's yet to make any official announcements on things like DLC. In the meantime, we're still waiting for the performance-boosting patches that the developer promised a couple of months back.
