FromSoftware has posted a new Elden Ring trailer focusing on a story introduction to next month's DLC Shadow of the Erdtree. Watchable above, the more than three minutes of new footage features new enemies, new dialogue, and fresh areas. The expansion launches for PS5, PS4 on 21st June 2024.
Overall, the trailer remains very cryptic, leaning heavily into the lore. You might need an Elden Ring narrative expert on YouTube to help spell a few things out in the footage to truly get an understanding of what FromSoftware is hinting at here.

Not watching this I've seen enough I'm getting it I don't want to spoil anything for myself ^__^
I watched it and nodded along like I knew what was going on but I really I didn't.
@johncalmc I think that’s how I’ve played every single FromSoft game. I love them but I have no idea what’s going on in any of the games.
That one game I'll drop anything else for without even thinking twice. Bring it on.
Still got ER sitting in my drawer. Cant be bothered to start it knowing how tough its going to be.
Did not expect to see fisting.
@Kidfunkadelic83 it's the easiest of the Souls games tbh
It's all I been playing the past weeks along with BB, just can't get enough of From's art. Waiting for Shadow of the Erdtree which I suspect might just qualify to be a full game.
@johncalmc Took years to discover this but Miyazaki is actually Miquella, it's all cryptic, thank me later.
@Kidfunkadelic83 It’s mainly about being patient. Developing your character while exploring the regions that are doable at that point. I was afraid to start as well and now it’s probably going to be my all time favorite game.
It’s also a great starting point for playing tough games in general. Since then I beat both Demon’s Souls and Returnal because I know now which approach works.
@EchoRange Maliketh would like a word with you. I'd have mentioned Malenia but she's optional.
I don't know, Maliketh was tough as hell for me anyway.
Elden ring shadow of the erdtree is going to be a instant classic.word up son
After getting the platinum, and selling my PS5 thereafter, I re-purchased on SteamDeck and just last week managed to complete the game again.... ready for the DLC!
ER runs amazingly well on deck, and was great to revisit after a couple of years away.
Found a good sub-reddit "Patches Emporium" that facilitates trading across all platforms. Managed to get a second Bloodhound Fang (in exchange for me giving away a Rivers of Blood). Now I have full +10 Powerstancing dual Bloodhound Fangs, and feel unstoppable!
Can't wait for next month
@Kidfunkadelic83
It’s one of the best games I’ve ever played. You should definitely leave it in the drawer though. It’s scary. And difficult—especially for a panic-rolling, button mashing newb like me. 🤣
Absolutely brilliant game although I still rank Bloodborne as the best in class. May there be a BB remake (or at least a 60fps update!), Praise The Sun.
This trailer has my lore devouring brain making monkey noises. This cannot come soon enough!
@Kidfunkadelic83 created an account just to tell you, my 10 years old (8-9 years old at the time) beat elden ring alone, 0 help from me, 0 cheesing. Game is not as hard as people pretend it is
Thanks for being a joyful part of the community
@Kidfunkadelic83 once you learn about stats (vigor/health is everything) the game becomes pretty tame, it was my first souls game and while I’ll never do challenge runs I completely understand why some people need to do them now
@CJD87 Bloodhound Fang is one of my favourite weapons in any Souls game. Just really hits the spot. Man, I love Elden Ring. Nothing will top those early days of release when we were all playing on here and I realised that I’d gone in a completely different direction to everybody else, ending up at Volcano Manor before even going near the castle.
@nessisonett I actually remember the launch weeks really well, and such great memories. Everyone discovering everything collectively was incredibly, and as you say - the different experiences of each player etc!
In future, and whenever feasible, I would always want to play FS games (and DLC) on 'Day 1' and try to emulate that feeling again.
Assuming you're day 1 for Erdtree? Will you be using a NG build or NG+?
Still none the wiser on what's going on with the story in that game! Still looks amazing and well worth getting though!
@CJD87 Not sure I can justify the cost day 1 unfortunately, financials have changed since the base launch, as I’m sure they have for a lot of people!
@nessisonett Fair play mate... the Erdtree will be waiting for you Tarnished! Stay well
@Kidfunkadelic83 I was thinking the same thing... Because of the reputation of being difficult, I waited like a year before buying the game. Actually, the game is not hard at all once you have understood the combat/character progression mechanics. My 12 years old son also beat the game without help. In last resort the multiplayer is awesome to get help when you struggle. I was lucky enough to get Let Me Solo Her to help fighting Malenia It's a very immersive game, I spent 200 hours on it, which is incredible because most of the time I'm getting bored of most games after 25 hours.
