Released in 2017 (was it really that long ago?!), Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy has just hit an impressive sales milestone. The collection, which is available across PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC, has topped 20 million — and at least by our count, that makes it the single highest selling Crash Bandicoot release ever.
Now, we can't say that with absolute certainty because it's difficult to track how many copies the original PS1 games have sold over the last 30 years or so. However, we'd be very surprised if any of them have surpassed 20 million sales.
Of course, the N. Sane Trilogy is cheating a bit. As the name suggests, this is a compilation of the first three Crash Bandicoot games, and it obviously launched across a selection of incredibly popular platforms. Still, we're not sure many would argue against its success — it's a really nicely packaged revival.
For comparison's sake, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time hit 5 million copies earlier this year, having released in 2021. That's certainly not bad either, but we suppose it just goes to show the pulling power of nostalgia (and bundled trilogies).

wish they would fix the global save file corrupt issue
Fantastic achievement for Toys for Bob. I bet they are feeling proud while they continue their amazing work......making call of duty maps for the rest of time.
Correction: it was Vicarious Visions. Always get those 2 studios confused.
@Jayslow It was a fantastic achievement for Vicarious Visions. Hope they're thrilled with what they accomplished and are happy making....oh they're part of Blizzard now.
That's a lot but i'm curious how much Crash 4, CTR, and Crash Rumble sold.
@Jayslow I believe Toys for Bob was the one who did Crash 4 and Crash Rumble. N Sane Trilogy was by Vicarious Visions and CTR by Beenox.
So do we know if this figure includes people who got it through subscriptions? Like the PS plus collection for example
A 60 fps patch would be nice.
@xDD90x Seconded. Would really love to see a 60fps patch for this, plus CTR and Spyro collection.
@Jayslow
The amount of talented devs wasted on COD is insane.
Treyarch for one. Made a PS2 Spider-Man game with better physics than the new ones. It's just laughable at this point.
@TedLassoNikes It specifically says "sold-through", which is the typical business term for full sales. So we assume that doesn't include subscription numbers.
20m sold-through? I would have guessed nothing like that…
@ShogunRok oh okay, thanks. Didn't know that!
@TedLassoNikes I should clarify, "sold-through" also means sold to consumers, so what we might consider "proper" sales.
Sometimes publishers will use "shipped" instead of sold, which can refer to copies that have been shipped to retailers, and not necessarily sold-through to consumers.
Well done to everyone involved
@Jayslow Toys For Bob is a Independent studio, have you forgotten that?
I still hold the N Sane Trilogy close to my heart, same with Nitro-Fueled.
Praying and hoping this signals Microsoft to finally do a Banjo Kazooie collection in the same vein of the N Sane Trilogy. It'd be a day one buy for me.
Love the remakes just like the originals back in the ps1 days. But Crash 4 might be my favorite in the series.
@waynesworld Crash 4 is an incredible game that doesn't get talked about enough. Could be my favourite too.
I did my part.i bought a physical copie of the excellent crash bandicoot n sane trilogy.i always enjoy crash bandicoot more than spyro.word up son
