It seems Toys for Bob's warmly received Crash Bandicoot sequel has been a huge success. Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, the first numbered sequel in the series since 1998's Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped, has sold over five million copies, according to the studio's design director, Toby Schadt.
It's About Time is a return to the franchise's roots, focusing on challenging platforming, diverse level design, and a colourful cast of characters. Following the successful revival of the brand with Vicarious Visions' N. Sane Trilogy, this is a fresh, modern spin on a beloved formula. Schadt recently changed the sales number on his LinkedIn page, suggesting the five million milestone was crossed not too long ago.
The multiplayer spin-off Crash Team Rumble doesn't seem to have moved the needle nearly as much, as its sales are not disclosed on the same page. That'll be Toys for Bob's last mark on the franchise in any case, as the team recently split from Activision to become an independent studio. It's reportedly working with Microsoft on its next project.

Its crazy that ABK folded them in to COD and Xbox was gonna shut them down if not spun out
N.i.c.e. crash bandicoot n sane trilogy is a excellent video games remake.and crash bandicoot 4 its about time is a another excellent game.word up son
That is surprising. It didn’t seem like a game that lit the world on fire at the time. I think I even have it in my library from PS+ and have never even considered downloading it.
@Th3solution I remember when the N. Sane Trilogy (remakes of Crash 1-3) came out, it was on the best selling charts for a long time — and a quick trip to Wikipedia confirms that it sold 10 million copies. It was the reason why Crash 4 was developed, and 5 million sounds believable with that taken into account.
It sounds surprising to us because we’re either not into that genre of games — and thus not paying much attention to them — or the fact that it took 3 years to reach that number. It’s probably a hit with children getting their first PlayStation, and probably found in bargain bins these days.
It's about time it sold so many copies
It's not bad but, in my opinion, its not at the original trilogy level
Excellent to see quality platformers that aren’t Nintendo’s doing well. Crash 4 isn’t perfect but as the first genuine attempt to push the series forward and not coast on remake nostalgia, it was everything I could have asked for.
Do they also count PS+ downloads or only actual purchase?
@playstation1995 word up son, for real, you heard it on a crip tip, crash bandicoot sold hella copies which is da bomb since they opened up shop on the real skirting down sm, hopefully they keep it trill/fire/fly & not off the hook for og spyro, you know wut I'm saying cuz because it will be wiggity wack 😂
The discounts have been pretty massive so I am not too surprised. Do PS+ Downloads count or is it just sales? Because some companies consider those sales as well.
Personally? I disliked it quite a lot after the initial wow factor. Levels were too long, the reverse levels sucked, too many hidden crates, the relics were irritating, Polar was a mess to control with horrible hit boxes. I liked the mask abilities, the music and the graphics though.
I really liked Crash 4. Game was a lot of fun and had a lot of heart. Absolute nightmare if you wanted to 100%, but still a good time.
@Deadlyblack That was my problem. I liked it well enough casually but as a person who got all the platinum relics in NST and all trophies, this game destroyed my sanity, I ended up hating it.
@Rmg0731
Due to Xbox destroying the gaming industry, we will not be getting Crash Bandicoot 5, and Sony should purchase Toys for Bob and acquire the rights to Crash Bandicoot from Xbox.
@EYEBALL. No doubt playa.i got the juice.nah mean.word up son
I really enjoyed this game. Wouldn't say it's as good as Nintendo's best platformers but still really fun. Too bad the chances of another Toys for Bob-developed Crash Bandicoot game are slim to none.
For a game on Switch (and all other systems) looks like a low number.
@playstation1995 Yeah man, I need to complete it.

Didn't they recently announce that development of content was finished? Would have been around the time of the news that TfB was going its own way following the ABK acquisition. Neither are what happens if the game had a healthy playerbase.
@Gamer83 It wouldn't say it slim to none. Toys for Bob and Microsoft are still working together even after splitting. It now just up to Toys for Bob if they want to continue working on the IP instead of something different now.
Just need spyro 4 now😎
