Gamescom

It has been confirmed Sony won't be attending Gamescom this year, making it half a decade since the company had any presence at the biggest video game convention in the world. It last showed up in 2019, and has been missing from the showfloor ever since — though, the 2020 and 2021 versions were either cancelled or held online as a result of the Covid pandemic. In a simple statement, it simply said: "Sony Interactive currently has no plans to exhibit at Gamescom 2024."

While there won't be a PlayStation booth on the showfloor, this doesn't rule out the possibility of PlayStation sharing bits of news during Geoff Keighley's own Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase. It has done so in recent years, including announcing a Horizon Zero Dawn PS5 patch and sharing details concerning Death Stranding Director's Cut. This year, one possibility could be a LEGO Horizon Adventures release date, which Keighley had the chance to reveal on stage at Summer Game Fest earlier this month.

Alongside the PS5, PS4 console manufacturer, it was previously confirmed Nintendo won't be exhibiting at Gamescom 2024 either. The show will take place this August in Cologne, Germany. Did you expect any Sony presence at the show? Let us know in the comments below.
