Closed beta testing for Baldur's Gate 3's big Patch 7 has been delayed, meaning it will take even longer to arrive for players on PS5. Something caused the game's passive dice rolls to stop working in internal testing, obviously a problem in a game based on D&D. Thankfully, that's the bad news; the good is that developer Larian has further detailed some of the added extras coming to the expansive game.
Along with previously advertised upgrades to the split-screen experience, Honour Mode enhancements, cinematic ending sequences for evil characters, and a mod manager for community creations, a host of bug fixes, improvements, and additions have been promised.
Performance has been further optimised, reducing memory usage when loading initially, with a noticeable impact in more heavily trafficked areas and when managing large quantities of loot. Facial expressions during companion dialogue have been polished. Players firing up a fresh Custom Mode playthrough will be able to turn on Honour Mode mechanics for a little extra challenge without the crushing, permanent consequences.
Are you holding off on one final Baldur's Gate 3 playthrough, or if you have yet to take the plunge, have you considered seeing what all the fuss is about? Let us know in the comments section below.

Looks like they still didn't fix the Karlach romance glitch at Last Light Inn, which is a massive one.
I realise the game is huge, but it has really come to something when patches to make a game work as desired are reported on like they are DLC or something.
I understand the commercial reasons for just needing to get a game out the door, but a “big patch 7” is pushing it a bit.
I’m interested in the game and will get it eventually, but this just makes me feel better about my decision to wait.
Hope everyone else is enjoying it though, and thanks for testing everything for me.
@thefourfoldroot1 tbh I think the term "Update 7 + patch xx.xx" may have been more accurate. Its like when GT7 releases new tracks and cars (freely) we call it an update. So yes, valid point, better to clarify some of this is an update and some of it is a patch.
Kinda confused thought that Larian said they’ve finished updating BG3 a while ago.
Also haven’t gotten round to get it yet due to not having the money for it or having the storage space.
How big is it currently in GB?
@Dragoon1994 I think around ~160 GB give or take
@CJD87
Wow that’s huge.
Certainly will have to get it when I’ve finished a lot of other games first.
Don’t know why Sony thought it was a good idea to make PS5’s with only 600gb and also not allowing people to play games from the external hard drive.
Limits what I can have installed, always have Ark and Diablo IV installed which is a lot a quarter of the space taken up
@Dragoon1994 I feel you...
I played it on Steamdeck, but my 256GB LCD couldn't even download onto the SSD - because it requires an additional ~100GB 'placeholder' space on top of the needed actual game-space of 160GB!
Had to grab a 512GB SD Card.
It is such a cool game though, really excellent.
Take your time larian studio.you got the juice. Word up son
@CJD87
Wow that’s insane
@Dragoon1994 I know right! Insane but worthwhile, absolutely one of the best games I have ever played in my life. Totally not my 'usual thing' either... but it just engrossed me absolutely from start to end.
So, stupid question as someone who doesn’t play on PC and hasn’t had experience with mods before on console: do some mods run the risk of breaking the game and making it not function correctly? Is there a QA type of process for these on PS5 so that something weird doesn’t disable essential game elements or make it unplayable?
I’m just thinking from the perspective of such a huge game like this and having a game breaking bug introduced with a mod and losing dozens of hours of game time investment. I can imagine having to uninstall the game and go through a bunch of hoops if something goes awry. But I’m not sure it these things are common or happen at all.
@Th3solution
If I understand it correctly. Only certain mods will make their way to PS5. Also Larian is putting a mod support tool that will allow mods to be added without breaking the game. Very excited for this add on.
@Svark Nice! Thanks, that sounds good. I don’t want to load something into the game which might sacrifice its functionality. I’m sure that’s also why this thing is delayed and they are making sure it will all function well
