First announced way back at The Game Awards in 2020, Crimson Desert has since dropped jaws with gameplay snippets and last year's full trailer — to the point where onlookers have consistently questioned the project's legitimacy. Fortunately, developer Pearl Abyss has announced that the open world action adventure will actually be playable at Gamescom 2024. So yes, Crimson Desert is real, and we'll no doubt be seeing much more of it next month.
Of course, the big question is whether this playable version will live up to the often outrageous-looking footage that's made so many headlines. This is set to be a seriously ambitious outing for the South Korean studio, so here's hoping that the Gamescom build delivers.
