Just checked out the Direct store for Europe and, while everything else is indeed discounted, PSVR2 is still being listed at 599,99€.
Ok. so the originals who paid full retail. we get something right? no. sony your hearts are darker than the devils soul
Feeling like Squidward looking out the window, cause none of these sales are active here lol
It's almost like Sony figured out that lower prices sell more products. Got to give them credit, it may have taken them 50 years, but they eventually figured it out!
Hopefully the price cuts to the VR2 are still there at the end of August, if so I will pick one up on payday.
Reimburse us vr owners who took the plunge early the difference.....seen as your first party support has veen none existent
@WhiteRabbit I am waiting for my Sony cheque to appear in the post because I bought a PS1, PS2, 2 x PS3's, PS4, PS5 and PSVR2 all of which are cheaper now so I reckon they gotta give me at least £1000 back
@WhiteRabbit cash back is not necessary. how bout store credit? ps plus discount? how about a thank you note for being loyal from the start would be nice
@Waitinonpsvr2 You bought in early. Your choice. They owe you nothing.
@Waitinonpsvr2
Look I fully agree VR released too expensive.
But do you go back and ask for the credit now your freezer or tv is cheaper 18montjs later? (Or 4years if you mean ps5)
So why would Sony do that? Early adopters chose to spend their money. Just as people who buy day 1 games. They don’t get a refund when it’s 50% off 3months later.
Very weird argument.
@WhiteRabbit 4 years? You mean 17 months. Or is this a whole "I don't need a U tablet controller for my Wii" scenario that people actually think PSVR2 is PSVR even with a number at the end?
(Disclaimer: Kidding, I know you meant the PS5, not the PSVR2, but the reimbursement for early adopters claims are referring to PSVR2, where Sony failed to properly support hardware, that cost more than a PS5, and then clearance prices a year and a half later. Nintendo at least did the ambassadors program with free 3ds games when they stiffed launch buyers on pricing to earn loyalty. Any company stingier than Nintendo is going to be visited by 4 ghosts on Christmas, not just 3. The Ghost Of Playstation Past, the Ghost of Playstation Present, the Ghost of Playstation Future, and the Ghost of Hiroshi Yamauchi holding a Virtual Boy (and a nailbat) laughing hysterically.)
I mean, imagine if PS5 had no first party suppo.......oh......
@jrt87 while I'm not among those that think I should get a refund, as I've got a lot of use from mine, and I'm glad for the clearance as I think it's the price it always should have been and hopefully rejuvenates VR, because PSVR2 going down hard will impact all VR for a decade, I think the argument here isn't that the price dropped, it's that the product was effectively unsupported by Sony as soon as it launched, and THEN the price was dropped leaving the early adopters with no actual benefit. If Sony supported it well before dropping the price the complaints would not exist. If it were a kickstarter, you know the risks, but (despite all evidence to the contrary) when something is backed by Playstation brand, there's an expectation that they're selling their brand and reputation with it, rather than a Kickstarter-like abandon-ware product. Again, I know...all evidence to the contrary. (Source: A stack of Vitas and a Sixaxis.)
If the price drop means more people are buying, there’s a better chance of more games. Maybe even a first party game! I can dream can’t I
@WhiteRabbit I dont speak Japanese
I think I'd consider getting a PS5 if it was smaller and under 300.
Most previous consoles only got any discounts a few years after they launched. The ps3 launched for ~$600-$800 and only after several years did they drop to $300. And the X360 launched at $500 - $400. Several years later x360 was selling at $300 - $400. The VCR X1 launched at $500, only to drop to $400 after dropping Kinect were as the ps4 launched at $400. Incredibly the X1X launched at ~$750 but it was below cost and was discontinued after about a year. Just some background.
@Gaia093 yeah still no promo outside of UK a day later... and most usual uk stores wont ship it international...
Oddly, the U.S. store lists the Portal as a "deal" selling at full price. I see that it is labeled appropriately on the E.U. store. I'll continue to wait for a true deal on that.
My first PS5 is a release day machine. Used daily for everything from gaming to streaming. My second PS5 is a second edition and has never been out of the box. It went out of warranty in the box. I really don't care, because I made the decision to be an early adopter, and it's odd that the same people who were feeling all smug cos they got a console or headset early are now feeling butthurt because of the inevitable price drops.
Ps5 got cheaper because it's the 4th edition. It's been made of cheaper components with smaller boards, less plastics, cheaper to distribute because they weigh less and you can fit more in a lorry or freight plane.
Vr is cheaper because it was dead before it released.
Guess what? Your portal will halve in price soon, because they are crap.
It's just the way things are and will always be.
£350 for digital slim is good value imo.
Any news on the Playstation 6?
No money off the DS5s?
Still, I suppose some people will be forced to buy another one when the inevitable drifting starts so more money for Sony!
@Waitinonpsvr2 I'm not defending any company but that's what it always is and was. I bought my x360 early and a few months later the price dropped by half in 2007 or 8
