Based on your preview yesterday, I'm going to skip this one, I was already considering skipping it anyway.
I may pick it up a few months down the line when / if it's on sale for half the RRP
Or better still if it's given away on PS plus again later in the year
Will never pay that much especially considering end of season it's free. FC24 was good but would like to see some decent competition for it.
@Jswift56 never going to happen since EA can out spend the competition. PES was the much better game but not paying for names and licenses meant nobody gave a crap sadly.
Ironic that a footballer’s wage is now required to purchase a video game of the sport. £150. Jesus.
When EA announced the change from FIFA to FC I genuinely had high hopes we might finally get an EA dev team trying to create the next evolution of football games.
But no.
It's still the same algorithm based drivel from the 16 bit era - albeit much prettier on the eye, and much more complex algorithms (but NOT that complex).
Will we ever get a new football game?
Remember the NEW Mario Bros games? Imagine if Nintendo released one every year. The exact same game. Over and over and over and over again. How do the EA devs even sleep at night producing the same rubbish content over and over again? It's embarrassing. The fact it sells so well... it's this vicious cycle of utter drivel.
When do we get a new football game? PS6? PS7? 8?! Because this is still pre-PS1 levels of creativity we are playing here... it's Mega Drive quality underneath the flashy bodywork.
Considering how this game is renowned for its predatory and unscrupulous monetisation having been designed with the guidance of behavioural psychologists to maximise engagement and spending, an article eulogising about its over-inflated RRP with attached links to buy it is particularly insensitive to problems within the game industry that this game represents.
@breakneck PES hasn’t been a better game since around 2012 at least. It’s not the licenses, lack of licenses didn’t matter when PES 6 was outselling FIFA. The game completely stagnated.
It was literally the same thing for over 10 years, so much so they turned it into a live service.
PES is still miles ahead of EA in terms of gameplay. Even eFootball has better gameplay, animations, ball physics, AI, regardless of how crap the presentation and sparse the content. Pro Evo 2021 Update is still miles better than anything EA pumps out.
It's one of those rare games that keep its value even years from now so I'll get myself the Ultimate Edition for 149€
I'll stick with UFL. Has potential!
@nocdaes To be fair, yearly releases are justified by the season structure of football. PES did a season update instead of a full new game in 2021 because of Covid/the series dying and it immediately felt stale. Funnily enough, it’s still probably the best football game out there, especially with mods.
@Carck That is utter nonsense, you obviously never played them in recent years before they turned to this sh*te online service which is absolutely killing off creativity in the gaming industry. They were really on to something with PES 2021, what a shame they ruined it.
I haven’t bought FIFA since 2017, the game hasn’t changed in over 10 years it still shocks me how well it sells.
@Broad-Spectrum it is true that i didn’t play 2021, mainly because of the appalling reviews. I did play 2020 and it was definitely subpar compared to FIFA. I can’t recall a truly enjoyable PES game after 2016
Ea are scumbags they rename old features every year and because they renamed them they are new it's as pedertory as gotcha games
