Wuthering Waves, the highly anticipated Genshin Impact-esque gacha game, is looking flawless in its first PS5 gameplay, presented on stage at ChinaJoy 2024 this weekend and captured by Gematsu. In this first direct-feed footage, which begins around the five minute mark, we see two presenters testing out different characters side-by-side, but we also get a glimpse of the open world as well as a boss fight.

Developer Kuro Games has been criticised for the performance of its RPG, specifically on mobile, but it looks like the release – which runs on Unreal Engine – has been well polished on Sony’s system. We didn’t notice any hiccups or stutters during the gameplay demonstration, and it’s worth pointing out how fast the load times are, too.

Despite its similarities to HoYoverse’s abovementioned outing, Wuthering Waves appears to have carved out an audience for itself, thanks to its flashy character action combat and smooth open world exploration. This will be a big release for Sony, especially in China and parts of Asia, so we expect it put a lot of marketing muscle behind the port.
