Wuthering Waves, the highly anticipated Genshin Impact-esque gacha game, is looking flawless in its first PS5 gameplay, presented on stage at ChinaJoy 2024 this weekend and captured by Gematsu. In this first direct-feed footage, which begins around the five minute mark, we see two presenters testing out different characters side-by-side, but we also get a glimpse of the open world as well as a boss fight.
Developer Kuro Games has been criticised for the performance of its RPG, specifically on mobile, but it looks like the release – which runs on Unreal Engine – has been well polished on Sony’s system. We didn’t notice any hiccups or stutters during the gameplay demonstration, and it’s worth pointing out how fast the load times are, too.

Despite its similarities to HoYoverse’s abovementioned outing, Wuthering Waves appears to have carved out an audience for itself, thanks to its flashy character action combat and smooth open world exploration. This will be a big release for Sony, especially in China and parts of Asia, so we expect it put a lot of marketing muscle behind the port.

That opening fight was very shiny, looked like it was inside Chadley’s VR headset, which made we want Chocobo out in the world. (Just finished 90 hours of FF7 Rebirth)
Does the game have couch co-op split screen b/c they kept showing the game like that?🤷🏻♂️
It’s a good game. Similar to Genshin in many ways but different in others, it deliberately apes it in many areas. Combat is flashier but music, plot, acting, character, world and quest design are all worse imo.

I would've actually played Genshin if it wasn't an endless gacha, so this could be interesting
@Specky Probably worth pointing out this is ALSO an endless gacha. Haha!
Having played this on PC, I love their combat its what Kuro Games have mastered especially their early title(Punishing Gray Raven) and I prefer Wuwa's over ZZZs and Genshin's. It is that good! I just hope they fix some of the issues that plagued during launch day.
@Specky Yeah Wuwa is a gacha but the combat of the game is worth trying out and in my opinion is better than ZZZs which I thought was almost the same as PGR's.
I've been playing on both mobile and PC on and off since launch (work has been hectic). I really enjoy WuWa, the voice acting isn't great..story isn't great, but the movement like running up walls etc feels so smooth. I also play genshin but not much, ans i can say comparing the two, stamina is better and lasts longer on wuwa, fights are more fun. My main thing though is the gacha. Now I don't mind gacha games, doesn't bother me, I've played honkai, genshin and tower of fantasy. And I can say without a doubt that the currency is a HELL of a lot easier to earn in WuWa than it is in any of the other games. Do I have a lot of luck? Kinda. The banner where you choose the 5star as your preferred to aim for, I have 2 so far. And I have some various other 4 stars as well.
I'm looking forward to this releasing on playstation. I won't play it all the time cos as I said..hectic work, plus I have health issues, and other games I'm into at the moment. But it's definitely one that will get a download.
