Sony has added PS5 action adventure Loulan to its China Hero Project lineup, and while not much is known about the title just yet, we’re going to assume it’ll closely resemble a Soulslike. According to Gematsu, the release will be featured on stage at ChinaJoy 2024 in Shanghai this weekend, so we should know more by the end of the weekend.
A single piece of artwork shows a character bathed in sunlight, crouched in front of a monastery-type building. Meanwhile, a Google Translation of the blurb reveals: “Players will take on the role of a guard, using their unique abilities to explore and solve puzzles, experience realistic cold-weapon combat, defeat powerful enemies, and fight against their own destiny.”
We’ll hopefully be able to share some more meaningful information by the end of the week.

I’m onboard no matter what it is.
another souls like....
Loulan was a city along the Silk Road.
'Souls Like' starting to be the new FPS
What is "cold-weapon combat"?
Same ***** then basically.
Souls-like has been well and truly beaten to death at this point. Creative bankruptcy.
Me: Game looks really coo....
Soulslike
Me: No thanks
Happens every time.
@PegasusActual93 sad but true
If it turns out to be another soulslike, then I'm out. There are so many games that would be so much more enjoyable if they were just games and not something to frustrate the hell out of you until you somehow advance.
Although I guess in this case, it's just an assumption at this point. Just like what @PegasusActual93 said though. There's plenty of games that look interesting until it is revealed to be a Soulslike game. As I've said before, I play video games to have fun.
I always have room for another Souls-like on my calendar, and reading through wall of inevitable "this looks neat, but now I won't play it" comments across multiple websites is honestly kind of entertaining at this point.
Hope not, I want fast paced action combat.. not another souls clone, who is what they should be called.. if it is, instant pass for me
@NateTheBad It's because people are getting bored of Dark Souls clones that rip off the same exact combat.
I have no problem with the genre but developers should try to create their own actual combat system instead of copying Dark Souls to the letter. The only exception I've played has been The Surge series.
Nioh too technically but then I wouldn't consider that a Soulslike because it plays much more like an actual action game with combos but if people want to define it as one because of the death mechanic, it really stands on its own two feet simply because its combat is truly unique. So unique with its stance system that it inspired other games like Ghost of Tsushima.
All these other games though are just Dark Souls clones right down to having the exact same controls. Even attempting to copy the aesthetics, themes, writing and dialogue of the Souls games. At that point, you might as well just go play Dark Souls rather than an uninspiring rip off.
