If in doubt, add a swimwear-themed summer update to your game. That appears to be the mantra of Perfect World with its new seaside event coming to Tower of Fantasy from 6th August. As this trailer evidences, there’ll be super-soaker shootouts, all-day dancing, and volleyball minigames. Maybe don’t watch this one at work, though!
As revealed on the PS Blog, you’ll have the opportunity to earn almost 300 free pulls as part of the update, as well as Dark Crystals, free vehicles, and more. The new summer-themed content will be accompanied by a new character named Nola, as well as a fresh Dorm room feature, which will allow you to hang out with your Simulacrums to do everyday activities.
Finally, the update will bring with it a new map, named the Aesperia Central District. “This area embodies administrative, commercial, and residential functions,” lead designer Sky Wang explained. “Let’s explore the heart of this sci-fi metropolis together!”

Humorous update aside, I wish I had time for this. Looks really fun.
Is the game any good though?
@BIG3 To be honest, not really. Haha!
Absolutely bloody perfect! Will Sony let the game look like this now after censoring the likes of Dead of Alive previously?
If only it wasn’t connected to free to play multiplayer rubbish I would pick it up for the ballsy aesthetic alone and to show Sony there is still support on their platform for this content despite their having done their best to destroy it since 2018.
It's good for the rewards you get compared to other similar genre, especially on anniversaries updates like this.
It's not free lunch is the only downside (events grind), but hey, it's enough for me to keep me playing it.
Each to it's own, always.
@BIG3
@BIG3 - The combat system is decent and the weapons are really inventive but everything else is pretty bad.
Genshin would never!
Surely the success of Stellar Blade has emboldened developers to be a bit more risqué than they have been over the past few years.
@thefourfoldroot1 I've played a lot of JRPG's since Sony's stance has changed on censorship and tbh there's hasn't been much difference when it comes to outfits, most anime games have revealing outfits and almost all of them have swimsuits available either in game or as dlc. I think the thing Sony censored and basically put a stop to are the mini games where you can touch and rub characters body parts to pleasure them like in Senran Kagura and Omega Labyrinth Life.
I played this game for around a year now and it's not as bad as some make out, there's lots to do in the game and the combat is pretty good. The only thing I wish they did better was the story access and the controls are quite fiddly when accessing menus.
Apologies 🤣
Im not gonna lie.... I wish more JRPGs looked like this 😳
@UltimateOtaku91
Completely stopped some games being ported, dictated the removal of entire game modes / minigames, changed underwear to weird black “shadows”, removed certain camera angles, refused to tell devs what’s allowed so they have to play it very very safe and, worst of all, impacted games even on other platforms because devs don’t want to make multiple copies of the same game.
Man I hate Sony. If it wasn’t for VR, my digital catalogue and my trophy metagame I would just switched to PC were at least moders can fix some of the more egregious gaming assaults. In fact, with PSVR2 becoming somewhat compatible with PC and digital games so cheap over there I may just make the jump anyway.
Then again, perhaps things will change now someone new is in charge. We can hope.
Anyway, I’ll stop the conversation before it goes completely off topic and all my comments get deleted lol.
@thefourfoldroot1, nah, I think @UltimateOtaku91 is largely correct.
Sony doesn't seem to have a problem with sexy, revealing character designs (see Star Ocean: the Divine Force, Samurai Maiden, and of course Stellar Blade), but rather mini-games or modes that are voyeuristic for the sake of being voyeuristic.
Now, I DO think photo modes (which are usually so in depth that they'd let you see up a character's skirt, and happen to be a hugely popular feature in any modern game) probably skirt that line, which is why so many modern Japanese games tend to go with shorts/spats under skirts instead of panties, but that's just a guess.
It should be noted that the two games I've played that feature panties instead of shorts either don't have a photo mode at this time (Stellar Blade) or black out the underneath of the skirt while pausing/in photo mode (Samurai Maiden), so I think I'm on to something.
@RR529
Yes, Sony already said they nixed upskirt shots during the whole #metoo thing. In fact this entire catastrophe came from a policy change at that time.
@thefourfoldroot1
The trailer is up on the official PlayStation YouTube channel too. I think Sony decided that they like money too much to continue with the extreme censorship policy. Especially with the success of Stellar Blade on the platform.
@ATaco
Let’s hope so.
I'll just keep holding out for hope that we get a DOA Xtreme 4. Not a fan of gachas. Plus, you can't beat the DOA roster.
@BIG3 Tried it on PC a while ago.....No.
@8bit4Life only the overseas devs. Western devs are still whiny little babies when it comes to good looking characters.
(and yes I mean both Male AND Female)
@BeerIsAwesome Why not? Tower of Fantasy’s developer, Hotta Studio and publisher Perfect World are both Chinese companies… I guess the Chinese government just gave them a pass!
@BeerIsAwesome
So is shooting people…just not in videogames. It was more avoiding bad PR during a crazy time, hopefully sanity prevails at some point and fictional acts are treated as such.
@BeerIsAwesome That is true but the Chinese government isn’t exactly known for being lenient, even for smaller players. They’re pretty darn good at cracking down on basically everything.
I think they revised the Chinese version of the game. The Chinese version, just like Genshin etc, is completely separated from the rest of the world’s version (including other Asian countries). They have their own launcher etc.
I don't quite understand why this is allowed and yet MiHoYo had to change tiny details on characters in Genhsin Impact on outfits that were MUCH less revealing. Both Chinese companies. Non-sensical.
@thefourfoldroot1 You make a valid point, and I don't know if I can articulate why, but I still think upskirting in a game should remain blocked as it is in most games, whereas shooting someone in game is less harmful. Sometimes you have a strong moral sense for something and can't quite explain it. Will have to give it some thought.
