Here we are, then: Wuthering Waves, the open world RPG from Kuro Games, running on PS5. Sony will be showing the game on its console for the first time this weekend at ChinaJoy 2024 in Shanghai, and a short snippet of footage has been filmed and shared online, as spotted by the eagle-eyed users at ResetEra.
This isn’t the best demonstration of the game, as it’s off-screen footage, hastily captured in poor quality from an unsteady angle. However, it’s looking pretty smooth from where we’re standing; as this is a combat demo there’s none of the open world exploration on display, which could potentially cause performance issues, but we’re not seeing any hiccups or issues here.

The gacha game’s been announced for PS5 for quite some time now, after the developer mentioned it was working on a console conversion at an Unreal Engine event in China. However, earlier this week the title’s social media officially confirmed the port, after Sony announced that it would be demoing the title at ChinaJoy 2024. There’s no release date just yet, but hopefully it’s not far away.

It was filmed on the Series S?
I can't see the gameplay through the 5 pixels on the screen
It's flashy, but there's way too much going on on the screen. Games like this (and I include XVI) almost seem like they're designed for third party spectators more than players. Spectators watching streams can see all the intereting animations and spectacle, but when you're playing you see nothing but things flashing all over, because you're focused on watching HP bars and UI elements, and remembering button sequences to really notice any of the on screen activity.
@NEStalgia When you are actually playing it, and when you are locked on, it is much easier to parse. Though there are a few bosses and encounters with multiple enemies where so much is going on it is harder to see a hit coming. There are also some audio cues to many attacks.
This is good news, though it really puzzled me as their last statement said it was "now officially in development" which made it sound a long long way away. But now it's shown running on a PS5 it must be much closer. Good to hear.
@NEStalgia My thoughts are the same. All I saw were flashes and bright lights. Games like that usually don't interest me. I'll surely give it a try but I'm not expecting much.
It's a really good game and I enjoy it quite a bit. Yes it's flashy as hell but once you know your combos (not very complicated) and you've fought certain enemies a few times you know the animations of what their attack is so you can either dodge or counter. I got ChangLi who's probably got the flashiest move sets and after some practice I know exactly what's going on. I will say though that in their version of "Simulated Universe" you get additional skills and sometimes the entire screen is filled with SFX and then the enemies corpses.
