Not content with its previous 500 trailers for Metaphor: ReFantazio, Atlus has dropped yet another look at the upcoming RPG in celebration of its presence at Gamescom 2024.
We don't know about you, but we've seen more than enough of Metaphor. We were pretty much sold on the project as soon as it was revealed, given the Persona-related talent behind it — but Atlus is seemingly hellbent on showing more and more and more of the game.
It's getting to a point now where the trailers are outright revealing story elements, characters, and locations that would have been great to discover in the finished release. Not even the notorious Square Enix is this haphazard with its marketing materials.

Now look, we're sure that there'll be so much more to Metaphor than what these trailers show. It's set to be a big old RPG adventure, which, knowing Atlus, will probably clock in at upwards of 70 hours. But still, it'd be nice to maintain some sense of wonder as edge closer to the game's 11th October release date.

Atlas rule of thumb: We can spoil the game, but you can't
You can also not watch the trailers, as I'm doing.
@NathanKang This. I watched the first trailer or two, but otherwise media blackout on this for me. All I really needed was Persona Team + new IP.
It’s Atlus. It’ll be 900 hours. It’ll take a lot of trailers to spoil it.
I wish my memory was good enough to remember things I see in trailers. As it stands, by the time the game releases I've forgotten 95% of what I had seen. Hell, a month after I finish a game i've forgotten 50% of it.
Haven't bothered watching the last few videos. I've seen enough. My preorder is in.
Granted, considering Atlus has developed several of my favorite RPGs of all time, I didn't need much selling on the idea of getting in early on this major new IP from them to begin with.
It annoys me that I have huge Persona-fan friends (who literally only talk about Persona and Pokemon) with absolutely no interest in this game because it's not Persona. In fact, maybe I'm just not in the right circles, but it generally surprises me that the sister-game to the ostensible JRPG of this generation is mostly being ignored outside of hobby sites.
I was in from day one, but the trailers are having the opposite effect - I'm kind of in the 'wait and see' camp now. Conscript's physical release is my top October want.
Agreed! I was already sold since the first damn trailer. Game's gonna be great without a doubt, but Atlus definitely needs to chill with the constant footage now.
I agree they are showing too much, it must have had a huge budget and they want as many people to be hyped/interested as possible hence the amount of trailers they've put out.
I forget the last trailer I watched for it so I'm feeling pretty good about it. That is a problem both Square and Atlus share with their RPGs. They love to spoil them in trailers!
Very excited for Metaphor though. I'm sure it's going to be fantastic.
yea, it almost feels as if atlus is insecure about the game and was expecting more hype around it? it was never going to be a mainstream release by any stretch, but i have no doubt many of the core persona 5 fans will eat it up. the more casual demographic remains to be seen. it takes time to grow an IP. persona series had 30 years... atlus can't expect metaphor to match persona 5 sales right out of the gate.
Two of my friends been complaining about this for months. The fact that it’s even getting an article shows how big of an issue it is. Holy.
I want to play it but it comes out the same time as Sparking Zero and I’ve been wanting a new Budokai Tenkaichi since I was a preteen
Don't watch? I mean, I know that's hard when this is what you do for a living., but for the rest of us, it really isn't that hard. Unless you keep posting the crap you are complaining we shouldn't see.
@danzoEX I've been gaming since the '80s and that's a new one to me.
Yeah please just don’t write articles about the trailers and we good.
Are they worried it won’t sell?
Already pre-ordered it. 🤣
I am absolutely sold on Metaphor so I'll definitely get it.
