Halloween, the legendary slasher movie franchise, is getting not one but two video game adaptations. As reported by IGN, Evil Dead: The Game developer Boss Team Games is on development duties for both projects.
According to the report, both games are being worked on alongside the producers of the films. One of the titles will be made in Unreal Engine 5, and has the original movie's director John Carpenter "intimately involved" in its development. "As a huge gamer myself, Iām thrilled to help bring Michael Myers to life again in this game, and my hope is to scare you silly," he says. This UE5 game is still in early development.
Both titles will apparently let players "relive moments from the film and play as classic characters from one of the most iconic and important horror films of all time".
Boss Team Games CEO Steve Harris describes this collaboration as a "dream come true" for the studio, with everyone on the team "huge fans of horror". He adds that the team is "thrilled and honored to be working with Malek Akkad and John Carpenter to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience that fans of the movie and video games will love.ā
There are no further details on either game for now, but what do you think of this? Would you like to play some Halloween games? Let us know in the comments section below.

Honestly, one of my dream games is a survival horror title where you play as a person (or people) surviving a home invasion. Where you can avoid confrontation or engage your attacker (making fights scarce, but meaningful - trying to evoke a Shadow of the Colossus "simple person against the odds" vibe). Using a super detailed environment and all the items in said home, you'd then fight to escape or incapacitate your intruder to escape.
Something like that with a classic horror villain twist could be super cool.
But I suspect this will be yet another asometric multiplayer horror title and not remotely unique outside the use of the IP.
Don't be multiple please. Give me a great single player horror slasher game in the style of until dawn. I prefer Friday the 13th and nightmare on elm Street, but will definitely check this out if it not multiplayer
I've got a son who will be very happy.
@Americansamurai1 i have a feeling it going to be like friday 13th i hope so
"relive moments from the film and play as classic characters from one of the most iconic and important horror films of all time"
So they are single player games? I personally think the world has seen enough of asymmetrical multiplayer games based on horror ips, we don't need more garbage for the landfill š
Hopefully they aren't multiplayer. I can't wait for these asymmetrical multiplayer games based off existing franchises to die. Leave the multiplayer to Dead by Daylight.
@MFTWrecks Sounds a bit like Intruders: Hide and Seek. Indie game (made by students) but pretty intense in VR at least.
Here comes another Friday 13th / Chainsaw Mascara.
If it's multiplayer it's instantly complete garbage.
Still hate what they did to Friday the 13th and Texas Chainsaw
I'd love a proper Scream game, going around Woodsboro evading Ghostface.
Please don't be another Asymmetrical multiplayer game I'M BEGGING YOU!!!! šš
Single player pleeeeeease! With the option of multi player. Haddonfield escaping Micheal would be awesome. Just 1 and 2 though.
@Maubari totally agree š
If it is in UE5, lets hope they have a big TRICK to get the framerate solid at 60!
Long as it's not another copy of that mp Friday the 13th game I'm interested.
@YoureTooSlowBro Considering it's the same developer as Evil Dead: The Game, I'm assuming it at least one will be an asymmetrical multiplayer game. I'm a huge fan of the Halloween franchise, but I agree that I have no interest in that game genre. It needs to go away. Dead by Deadlight has that niche locked up and any newcomers are just risking failure.
@Swirly yes please, would give it all for this
@Keyblade-Dan don't hold your breath honestly šš
@JalapenoSpiceLife Apparently there's 2 games being made they can't both be multiplayer surely ššš. I mean it's Halloween everyone's entitled to one good single player game huh?
Awesome! Any chance for Halloween 3 to be incorporated as well? Also would like to see a Nightmare on Elm Street video game next.
@YoureTooSlowBro no
@Maubari F13 was actually good so
Pretty much it will be multiplayer like Friday the 13 or Chainsaw Massacre. And they can't make it like Evil Dead since there's only one enemy.
This Definitely šš» Been waiting forever on a Halloween game!!! Love it
