MachineGames, the makers of the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, are over the moon the game is coming to the PS5, as was announced at Gamescom last week. In an interview with Eurogamer.net, design director Jens Andersson cheered when asked about the port, which will launch in Spring 2025. The title was previously planned as an Xbox console exclusive, after Microsoft renegotiated its arrangement with license holder Disney to exclude Sony’s system.
“From MachineGames’ point of view, we are super thrilled and excited over the fact we will be able to be on PlayStation next year as well,” creative director Axel Torvenius exclaimed. “The more people that can play the game – who can see all the passion and love we have put into this project and all the hard work – the merrier.”
Developers will, of course, always want their games to be played by as many people as possible, and there’s the added advantage that PS5’s lack of Game Pass means more copies will probably be sold on Sony’s console, as it won’t be given away as part of a subscription.
The additional great news for PlayStation fans is that, with the title launching a little later on PS5, the developer will have the opportunity to really polish the experience to perfection. “Yeah, absolutely [we’ll polish the game for PS5],” added Andersson “And this is also the opportunity to mention our technology is based on id Tech. We have our own, modified, version of id Tech, but it is originally a multi-platform engine. So we have a great start to it already.”
Will you play Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5? (2,329 votes)
- Definitely, assuming the reviews are good
- Maybe, I'm still not sure it's for me
- No, I'll be playing it on Xbox or PC
- Nah, I'm just not interested in Indy really

Alternative title: "Developer excited their new game will sell copies and provide job security."
"We're so glad we're not going to be trapped to releasing only on Game Pass on a console that mostly exists promoting Game Pass whereafter corporate will look at our sales numbers and shut us down while not understanding the business model like those other guys!"
It's great that this game is coming to PS5 where a lot more people get to enjoy it but I'll probably play the game on Gamepass anyway (obviously if Series S performance is bad I won't but Id tech has never messed up) since I've been interested since the announcement trailer years ago and modern social media and YouTube thumbnails love to put spoilers.
“The more people that can play the game – who can see all the passion and love we have put into this project and all the hard work – the merrier.”
See, this is what I always say when games get ported over to other systems/PC. More people get to play it and it helps the devs with sale numbers.
The main reason I own an Xbox Series S is for gamepass games I wouldn't otherwise pay for. This game, Forza and MS Flight Sim fit exactly into that category. I get cheap 3 month keys saving around £40 a year on average and probably save £200-£300 on the games. I get my 3P and Sony exclusives on PS5 as the 3P performance is usually better and the Sony single player games are usually higher quality (MS Flight Sim and Forza 5 being the main exceptions)
As someone who enjoys both systems it's a good thing that more people get to play the game. I think I kind of realised exclusive games are pointless now. Playstation has such a strong R&D team that the products are just best in class for the console space. Even if Playstation had zero exclusives it has inheritley better hardware which is innovative. This is why I'd always buy a playstation if I could only buy 1 console.
Need another poll option for me: “Will try it out on game pass and then buy it for PS5 if it’s good.”
I'm sure they are excited. It'll finally sell now, lol.
I’m still not sold on the first person point of view. It seems like this is the type of game that would be better suited for third person. Imagine playing Tomb Raider or Uncharted in first person. It just wouldn’t be the same.
@Stevemalkpus Machine games make first person shooters using the first person IDtech engine Doom uses thats why its first person
Cuz they know this version will actually sell
Machine games probably also delighted that the work already done to develop the game on PS5 before Microsoft bought Bethesda and renegotiated exclusivity with Disney won't be going to waste
So 60 fps for PS5 and 30 fps for X/S? Hey, they're polishing it up for Playstation 5, aren't they?
@Deadlyblack no one cares about your thoughts & feelings, Jan! We don’t care about devs’ jobs and families. We care about being able to gloat about our console exclusivity!
Translation: "We're very happy that we'll now be able to actually sell some copies of our game by releasing it on a console that will likely have a 75 or 80 million installed base by it's release date".
They must be thinking: "Hurray! The game might actually sell and we get to keep our jobs!". 😅
