Dragami Games has made the welcome announcement it's bringing forward the PS5 release date for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP in the West by two weeks. It's now launching on 12th September 2024, and will cost $44.99.
In terms of the upcoming spree of PS3 remasters, this now means Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP releases first, followed by Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster one week later. We then have Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered on Halloween, or 31st October 2024, to round out the return of some old fan favourites. More of a remake than a remaster, the RePOP version introduces a spree of quality-of-life improvements as well as new content.
There's a RePOP mode that "uses a unique and colorful pop art-inspired art style for damage effects", new chainsaws, more costumes and hair colours, and a time attack feature complete with rankings. The game itself has been touched up into "full HD" and had its load times cut, while other enhancements relating to input timings and chainsaw blasts have been implemented.
The original PS3 release wasn't received all that positively, with a Metacritic rating of 67. However, in the years since, the game has garnered a cult following, and combined with some new features and improvements, it's primed to provide gory fun next month. Are you happy to hear you can play Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP two weeks sooner? Share your joy in the comments below.

Sweeeet, looking forward to this one!
I want new actual PS5 games.
Seems on the more expensive side compared to Shadows of the Damned
@bindiana thats what i was thinking. Thought this would be 20 aswel
@bindiana True. But then again this is more of a remake than a remaster.
@x3King84 wanting new games for a new console generation is such an entitled thing to say!
(sarcasm)
@Shampi Yeah shame it doesn't look like it.
Without that god tier soundtrack i have little interest in the remaster.
@x3King84 There's at least 2 big ones this month but sure keep making up a problem that doesn't exist.
Definitely a pick up at some point, really regret selling my PS3 copy, but it won't be at or near launch with the games coming out.
And it seems there are only three physical editions:
I was looking forward to a retail special edition with a steelbook but to no avail. The collector is overpriced and features a statue and an artbook but I'm no statue collector. Going standard edition then
@Matej That is another point True though!
@Czar_Khastik I'm always dissapointed that they just won't release something like a steelcase with a nice Artbook and soundtrack I love statue but these prices are getting out of hand.
@Flaming_Kaiser I like the collectors edition but the price is too much and you wouldnt get it til May! Probably longer for myself living in the UK
@x3King84 there pentiy that comes out every month
@bindiana I forgot a preorder and I looked at my history it was in the warehouse for two years. 😬
@Czar_Khastik I’ll just get it retail myself. The only statue I’d be is statue of liberty.
I’m really excited for this, it’s been one of my most anticipated releases this year. : D
@x3King84 see, the way it works is… you can not buy this one and wait for one that you want. That’s the beauty of choice, free will, and having options. 🤷🏾♂️
Wanna play this again. But not got that price.
I missed out when this (Lollipop Chainsaw) originally released, but not this time!
Already have my standard editions of Lollipop Chainsaw for PS5 & Switch pre-ordered from Limited Run.
I'll pre-order Shadows of the Damned next. And pick up Dead Rising after a price drop.
Once again, I'll mention Dead Rising didn't release on PS3 so why do you keep adding that in the list of PS3 remasters?
I still play my Playstation 3 copy occasionally, but with the Dualshock 3 starting to give up the ghost, I'm looking forward to continuing to play on the PS5.
@DTfearTheBEARD why for both consoles tho? Collecting reasons?
I remember playing the original game on the PS3 when it released. Fun little hack n slash game. I'll definitely pick this up, along with the Dead Rising Remaster.
@Bramble The Switch version for portable play and the PS5 version for better performance/resolution and trophy support. Also, for the collection as well.
Just saw that Dead Rising Remaster is £45 as well. I will probably buy Lollipop and hold off buying DR. Dead Rising has been rebuilt on the RE engine.
@RiotShieldsHurt I use a Dual Shock 4 on PS3, but even then, not every game works with DS4 (Ratchet & Clank Into the Nexus is annoyingly one of them).
@theSpectre yes, it's a bit awkward to use on the PS3, unfortunately - for a few reasons.
