PS5 once again was the best-selling console in the UK for July, despite it being a weak month for the industry overall. Approximately 77,000 consoles were sold overall, with the PS5 moving the bulk of those machines. Sony’s system was down 30 per cent year-over-year, while the Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S slipped 9 per cent and 19 per cent respectively.
Evergreen games like EA Sports FC 24 and Grand Theft Auto 5 continued to sell well, with the former enjoying a massive bounce on the back of the Euros. The international football competition helped the EA Sports soccer sim to sell 46 per cent more copies than FIFA 23 managed the previous year. Another reminder that the branding change has had little impact.
