PS5 once again was the best-selling console in the UK for July, despite it being a weak month for the industry overall. Approximately 77,000 consoles were sold overall, with the PS5 moving the bulk of those machines. Sony’s system was down 30 per cent year-over-year, while the Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S slipped 9 per cent and 19 per cent respectively.
Evergreen games like EA Sports FC 24 and Grand Theft Auto 5 continued to sell well, with the former enjoying a massive bounce on the back of the Euros. The international football competition helped the EA Sports soccer sim to sell 46 per cent more copies than FIFA 23 managed the previous year. Another reminder that the branding change has had little impact.
It was a big month for EA Sports actually, as EA Sports College Football 25 also did incredibly well in the UK – despite the collegiate game being fairly niche on these shores. The title actually sold more than double what Madden NFL 24 managed during the same period last year, which is a really impressive result.

GTA IV is crazy! It’s almost like it ships with every console sold.
Why don’t we get actually numbers of each console sold. Is it a secret in the UK.
@OldGamer999 there are other websites that track this data.
@LowDefAl
Interesting and thank you.
Always makes me suspicious when actual numbers are not given.
They should give them out, all seems about uptightness and money to me.
An industry of intrigue and suspicion to me 🤣
I’d be far more interested to know software attachment rates for this generation than hardware sold. (The number of games bought per system sold).
I’d imagine it would be a lot higher on PlayStation than Xbox due to gamepass. But would also be interested to see how it compares with last generation given how popular some of todays f2p titles are.
Just proves ***** sells, only game in that list any good is luigi's mansion HD.
@Axelay71 Like... I'm a shameless Nintendo fan, but claiming Elden Ring and Red Dead Redemption 2 aren't any good is wild.
@Ralizah each to there own I guess, personally I don't like openworld, soulslike games. Even though I get smashed for it on most forums. It works both ways. I like "Linear" games unfortunately I dirty word in today's industry.
Slowly saying goodbye to my Xbox. I did have a PS4 but didn't go for a PS5 as it became the console of remakes. I decided to pony the money to build a PC as steams got games consoles just hasn't got, shame I grew up on consoles but the way Microsoft and Sony have been, SBI for one. Microsoft buying studio's, making them make games they don't want and because of poor performance shutting said studio down and Sony forcing gamers to get PSN and never making a remake of Bloodborne or Bloodborne 2 even though there's massive requests from gamers for example. Personally if I was to buy any console it'd be Nintendo as they seem to be the only ones that wanna make games (I'm aware they've also had their greedy issues, lesser of 3 evils).
That's my opinion and no hate to anyone who disagrees, no hate to anyone with a different of opinion just my take
