Proving the power of a positive preview cycle, the conversation has seemingly shifted overnight, and developer Bloober Team's eagerly-anticipated Silent Hill 2 remake appears to be on the upswing. Publisher Konami has struck while the proverbial iron is still hot, dropping a banger story trailer for the reimagined survival horror classic that has us counting the days until its 8th October release date on PS5.
We have a bit of whiplash in this instance, as previously, it seemed like Konami and Bloober were attempting to sandbag the game ahead of launch, pointing fingers at each other after an apparently tumultuous development. We're glad that the game has seemingly come together and that 2024 has another engaging contender, provided Silent Hill 2 delivers and lives up to fans' expectations.
Are you surprised to see the positive reception to Silent Hill 2 previews? What do you think of the above story trailer? Let us know in the comments section below.

I still have reservations about this, but this trailer and the 30 minutes of gameplay I saw from VGC today have sold me on SH2 Remake far more than anything Konami has shown over these past few years.
I'm very optimistic about the game, cautious, but optimistic.
I’ve been skeptical, my biggest concern is lack of care for the source material, or if anything is omitted. That trailer does look good though, and it’s great to hear the soundtrack again.
I like what I've seen of this so far. I really enjoyed the recent Alone in the Dark despite the average reviews and this gives me the same kind of vibe.
@Bentleyma I have a feeling the Alone in the Dark remake is exactly the same tier of game Silent Hill 2 may be, and that’s totally fine if that’s true. That’s not GotY caliber, but it’s quirky, memorable, and true to itself in spite of any flaws. That’s brave development in this current gaming landscape.
This trailer and the gameplay video sold me on it so I pre-ordered it from Amazon.
It's only £55 because of the £5 off preorder bonus.
I was sceptical, but that trailer looks awesome so I am going to preorder it. SH2 is one of my favourite games ever.
Wow, the game profile has that along with PS5 SH2 will also be available on PS2 this coming October. Lol.
@somnambulance for a game as revered as Silent Hill 2 that’s not a good thing. It worked well enough for Alone in the Dark because, despite its importance, it was seen largely as an old clunky game that hadn’t aged well. Silent Hill 2 is a far more beloved title that deserves more care.
I have never played the original, so I wouldn't be able to draw comparisons. One thing's for sure: it looks beautiful and well-crafted. If I get a well-rounded and complete story alongside it, I'll be happy.
@matekomlosi that’s cool, I hope you really enjoy it, and avoid spoilers at all costs!!
I can’t wait to play this 😎
@Jireland92 I’m not saying that would be good enough, but I’d rather it be true to itself than a smoothed out, homogenized product. We all know there’s enough of that in gaming in 2024.
I really liked the trailer and somehow gave me major nostalgia vibes even though I only finished the game two summers ago for the first time (I only had played the original SH and I've been mostly in REvil side). Excited for this remake.
This Maria is so ugly. I was in in shock when I saw her first time in this remake of the so iconic cg cut-scene and ps2 trailer, back then Maria's face was so lovely. Now it looks like a bad joke, what were they thinking.
@RBMango wow still complaining just stick with the original including your gang gang squad squad that liked your comment
@exit you're joking right?
@NoCode23 are you high?
@Undeadcop No, not really. Why?
I actually think the game looks good. As for any concerns, we won’t really know until the game is released. Everything is speculation based on what is being revealed.
@exit did you felt the same way about resident evil 2, 3 and 4 remake?
@Undeadcop Somewhat, but I think those games delivered an excellent experience.
I’m curious to know what are your thoughts?
@exit I'm excited for it and like the new stuff and improvements they added
