Update: Insider Gaming is reporting that some media is already aware of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s target platforms, which include PS5. Writer Tom Henderson, citing unnamed media sources, claims NDAs on the subject have been signed, but it’s unclear if this information will be revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live. The game is set to feature during Geoff Keighley’s opening event.
Original Article: It appears we’re on the cusp of the next wave of Xbox exclusives being announced for PS5, and while social media speculation remains cryptic and vague, it’s looking increasingly likely that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be lassoing Sony’s new-gen system in the not-too distant future. This really speaks to Microsoft’s changing strategy, as it was previously reported that the trillion dollar tech titan had renegotiated its licensing deal with rights holder Disney to exclude PlayStation platforms.
There have been rumours about the nature of the release’s exclusivity for quite some time, but Windows Central stoked the fires late last week when reporter Jez Corden updated an article, suggesting there’s a “large” chance the MachineGames-developed tie-in could be announced for PS5. This followed discussion about a “big” Xbox game coming to Sony’s system, which has attracted rumours spanning everything from Forza Horizon 5 to Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Now, well-regarded podcaster Nate the Hate has put some weight behind the nature of the alleged announcement: Indiana Jones is coming to PS5 and it’s coming soon. According to a post on X (or Twitter), the ITK individual says the title will release first on Xbox Series X|S and PC this December, before immediately following on Sony’s console in the first half of 2025. Assuming this information is accurate, that’d give it a console exclusivity period of just six months.
This is remarkable because, as previously mentioned, Xbox renegotiated with license holder Disney to exclude PS5 from the title’s target platforms after purchasing Bethesda. The news was confirmed by bigwig Pete Hines during the FTC trial involving Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. There, he confirmed under oath, that his company amended its license of the intellectual property to specifically exclude PlayStation platforms.
Assuming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle really is coming to PS5 relatively soon, this just underlines how much Microsoft’s strategy has changed. Waning hardware and software sales, and increased attention from upper-management, has forced it into bringing more of its titles to Sony’s consoles – and they’re seeing massive success in their new destination, too.
Will you play Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5? (2,329 votes)
- Definitely, assuming the reviews are good
- Maybe, I'm still not sure it's for me
- No, I'll be playing it on Xbox or PC
- Nah, I'm just not interested in Indy really

Would love to play Indy on my PS5 but there are so many rumours flying around at the moment, think I’ll just wait for the gamescom announcements before getting too excited
So Indie could have an amazing game like the original films. Serious parts along with the wit and cockiness.
Put that in a word where you fight Nazi's, truly explore it, make it interesting and I'm sold.
But we all know that won't ever happen in today's world, so who cares if this is xbox exclusive lol
Edit: Well, I was wrong about the game and am pleasantly surprised. My interest has piqued.
I heard a rumour that PS5 is getting a port of Kinect Sports! Tell everybody online, quick!
@TripleKing333 Will it support EyeToy?
Well if Disney want to make money off this then of course they will want it on PS5.
It’ll all come at various times… with Microsoft’s total lack of respect for their console customers, there’s no reason not to.
Having just revisited the C64 game Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom on my Steam Deck emulation, yes, I'm very excited by this news!
I assumed they'd at least wait a year.
Those rumors went from Starfield to Forza5 to Flight sim and now Indy, lol
Well, let’s see when it releases for Xbox, so I can decide if I want to brush the dust off my console or not and go the cheaper route with Gamepass for a month or buying straight up on PS5 after reviews.
This same guy said Starfield was coming to PS5 then later had to backtrack and say he was wrong. Guess we’ll see.
Yay Indiana Jones, that would be cool if true
I'll be playing it on PC at launch but it's good to see such properties being more widely available to players
@Arxagelos Well, to be fair, there's a good chance they all could be correct.
@get2sammyb And we will probably see some announcements in that direction at Gamescom. At the moment, Xbox is not the worst publisher of PS5 games.
@Max_the_German The sheer scale of the industry they gobbled up means they'll likely become the biggest, or one of the biggest, publishers on PS5 and Switch eventually.
Ultimately, that's what happens when you spend near $100 billion on IP and developers, though.
The more people that get to enjoy a game the better in my view. Ideally people shouldn’t have to own two sets of very similar hardware just to be able to play certain titles that are restricted to one machine.
I’d hate to have to have an AMD, Intel and Nvidia pc just to be able to play a specific game
I’d happily junk my ps5 if Sony were to release their first party titles day and date on pc. As it is I’m waiting on Spider-Man 2 to either hit pc or become available on ps plus extra. Not sure I’ll be prepared to do the same once naughty dog’s next title hits though
It being 1st person still puts me off but I guess we'll see if it actually works once it releases.
I'll play it even if the reviews are bad. I just want to be Indy.
@get2sammyb same goes for the opposite, this is the same guy that said Starfield will come to ps and it never happened. Guess we'll have to wait and see because it's seems very strange and odd ms to agree and pay Disney for only 6 months of exclusivity when the game is made from their own studio, something feels very odd here.
More fun for everyone. Ill play it on gpu as well, but love seeing options like this.
I'm still not sold on the first person, but I'm a big Indy fan. So I will be picking this up. I'm also not even remotely surprised by this game likely being announced for PS5.
Not really suppler interested in this one anyway. The new game that has any remote interest for me is avowed. Either way, i’ll probably do a free month of GP with points when that comes out and try both at no cost. Plus i need to find some use for the damn thing
PlayStation beat Xbox into submission.
@get2sammyb Of course it will support EyeToy. But it won't support PSVR2.
@Frmknst it’s not free though to be fair. But good value if you can finish the game in 1-3 months.
Count me in assuming reviews are good. I’d be interested in Indy, forza and perfect dark if they jump ship.
FWIW, the guy who originally started the Forza Horizon 5 rumor, Shinobi 602, has deleted his post on ResetERA. I’d take everything with a grain of salt until something is announced.
Removed - flaming/arguing
Will be weird for a while if PS5 gets Xbox big AAA type games.
But I will get used to it and if they are really good like any other game I shall buy.
Will be strange especially on PS5 Pro when the games run better than on an Xbox console.
DOOM looked great so that’s a definite already and same day release across all consoles.
Interesting. I like concept of the game, just wished it was third-person.
@Miserablefish @WhiteRabbit
Well I have become pessimistic because of all the disappointments this generation, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Didn't expect the game to go there. We'll see.
Love you too miserable anchovy
Some media “have” @get2sammyb
Don't forget Monty on the Run.....leading the way for Rick Dangerous on Atari 1040stfm.
i like the buddy buddy. sharing is caring. yet nintendo whos pokemon games you can play for free with emulators on pc that u can find in 2 minutes... they cant see how sharing exclusives pays off.
I recently watched the new Indy movie on Disney+ and thought it was a nice attempt at being good like the original, not a big fan of the sequels. I’m pretty sure most of it was in 3rd person though, not sure how I would feel like I’m “playing an Indy movie” in 1st person. Oh well, maybe I’ll play Uncharted 2 again if this comes to PS5. I’m assuming it must have been remade or remastered by now since I played the original.
U2 is still my all time favorite “interactive movie”, curious if it holds up. Replayed FF7 recently, my favorite JRPG for 20 years, and it was basically trash now, barely playable. Still a good story, characters and music but actually dealing with the menus and items was archaic.
@awp69 Shinobi602 didn't start the Forza rumour that was eXtas1s.
Shinobi just said a big Xbox game for PS5 will be announced next week.
It makes financial sense to put it on PS5 as I don't see it being the kind of game to make someone buy an Xbox or subscribe to GP just to play it. Just wish they'd done it as a third person game didn't like the look of the first person perspective.
I don’t care where it ends up, I’ll be playing on PC anyways.
Does it suck for Microsoft that Sony will probably get to keep Wolverine for itself where as Microsoft has to share Indiana Jones? Sure. But that’s just how things are going these days.
I love Game Pass for how it benefits me and my wallet, but there is no doubt it’s soured things for Microsoft when it comes to cutting deals for major titles (assuming this is true and multi-platform was part of the deal).
I'll believe it when I see it.
There has been nothing good involving Indiana Jones for the past 25 years, so I’m not expecting this to be any different. The 4th and 5th film wounded me deeply!
@WhiteRabbit Sadly the only thing we ever truly own is our own bones. Nothing lasts forever, subscriptions aren't that bad.
@Frmknst that’s exactly my plan. Seams silly to buy it on PS5 when it will just show up day one on my Xbox. But good for those that don’t have both. Happy Gaming!
@Chaosbros I was discussing it with my brother who has the Series S and he said the same thing. Neither Blade nor Indy are Spider-Man or Wolverine level IPs where people will go out of their way to get consoles.
@FinneasGH The Lego Indy games were pretty good.
Wouldn't surprise me. Get that and Forza Horizon 5 on PlayStation, plenty of sales for Sony and plenty of royalties for Microsoft. Everybody wins in the end.
playstation should share some games with xbox
@Neither_scene i disagree. Consoles are vanity toys for the gaming hobby. With that mindset all brands for each respective hobby should merge losing their uniqueness. No one is entitled to all IPs for every corporation. Microsoft should give DEIsney more money to keep it Xbox only.
@nomither6 that’s not how IPs work mate. Sony doesn’t have to do anything. If one’s competitor wants to share their IPs on a platform then cool. Besides Sony cannot afford to prop up a service like subsidized gamepass. So they must keep an upper hand where they can.
@breakneck agreed. As they are all existing IPs from the more creative 20th century. Indy isn’t as strong with the younger crowd as it is the older one. I wasn’t excited for Xbox when this was revealed because it’s an old IP. But I doubt Microsoft will want to make a new IP that is uncharted like. They haven’t since the PS3.
@WhiteRabbit subscriptions are what corporations want to push on everyone at all echelons. They are even creeping into the automotive industry for hardware that is already on ones own car that they paid for lol! I detest this internet of everything push.
By the end of 2025, every first-party Xbox game will either be announced, or released already, for PS5, as well as confirmation that there will not be a follow-up to the Xbox Series consoles.
@Vaako007 i said should, not that they have to . i can have my own opinions
@DennisReynolds The Golden God speaks! Ah I forgot them, I stand corrected.
I am just bitter about the films!!
@FinneasGH I'm not a fan of the last two films either.
@Vaako007 pc gaming currently has 3 major gpu manufacturers - Nvidia, AMD and most recently Intel. Neither of the three have exclusive software and all three offer unique versions of upscaling technology and AI computation.
Some software is sponsored by a particular manufacturer and may offer features unique to that gpu - Nvidia rtx is a relatively prevalent example of that feature set.
Wukong released today - it’s an Nvidia sponsored title with RTX and DLSS technologies. It is not an exclusive title and can still be played on AMD and Intel gpu’s supporting both FSR and XeSS.
The only people to benefit from software exclusivity are corporate shareholders. I’ve never had any issue with PlayStation owners having access to Xbox studio titles - it has absolutely no impact on the enjoyment I gained from playing those titles on Xbox. In regards to multiplayer titles with crossplay it actually benefits Xbox players by virtue of providing a larger player base from which to match. The argument can also be made that a good game has more chance of getting a sequel or continued support the more copies it sells - multiplatform games typically sell more titles than exclusives.
@WhiteRabbit yea remember it vividly as I purchased a surface book at the time. And it took me forever to find a standalone version of Microsoft word. It was really buried on the store front. And even now they still seem to hid this option.
@Neither_scene PC gaming is a bit different. As for the gaming PC crowd there are many parts vendors in which all components will talk to each other in the windows environment. The consoles aren’t built like that as you know. Also the PC gaming community isn’t the console gaming crowd. So when a console game goes to the PC and not another console, it doesn’t mess up any prospective console buyer.
I understand where you are getting at with the GPUs. But they all play within the same PC environment which has standards. A PC gamer will have the same experience on which ever GPU vendor he chooses for his windows based machine. As PC games are coded to run in a windows environment and the hardware choices just help achieve whatever stats one is after. Which is all relative. The latest gimmicks the three GPU makers advertise to help brute force their way through unoptimized code doesn’t impress me. I say this as someone whom has a well built PC.
Corporate exclusivity is beneficial to Sony and Nintendo. Microsoft is a software company and wants to be everywhere. Sony and Nintendo are hardware companies and aren’t software rich. They need people to buy into their platforms physically, otherwise they will just shutter operations.
IMHO people need to get over this access for all mindset. As that only facilitates the rise of mega corporations across all industries. Gaming is a hobby and hobbies cost money.
