Sony has announced some of its plans for Tokyo Game Show 2024, and so far, it's more or less what you'd expect. PlayStation will be present at the Japanese gaming expo, which takes place between 26th and 29th September, and if you're attending in person, it sounds like you'll be in for a treat.
Confirming its initial plans over on the Japanese PS Blog, Sony has announced two games that'll be playable at its booth. First up is Astro Bot, which will have released by the time TGS rolls around. Attendees will get to sample the 3D platformer, but the cherry on top is the presence of a real life gacha machine in the style seen in Astro's various games. People can use this gacha machine to win themselves one of four Astro Bot t-shirts.
The second game PlayStation is hosting is Monster Hunter Wilds. Of course, the Monster Hunter series has always been huge in Japan, and the upcoming entry will be playable at Sony's booth as well as Capcom's. Those who play the demo at Sony's booth will earn themselves a promotional Monster Hunter Wilds keychain.
Elsewhere, Sony will have a stage at TGS 2024, where it'll host various guests talking about upcoming PS5 and PS4 titles. This will all be livestreamed on the PlayStation Japan YouTube channel. Most notably, on 29th September, the platform holder is holding a presentation for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Hideo Kojima will be joined by various guests all involved with the anticipated sequel.
Sony also teases that more playable games and stage events will be announced at a later date.
We're pretty jealous of anybody going, especially because of that Astro Bot gacha machine. What are your thoughts on Sony's plans so far? Discuss in the comments section below.

Hopefully we get a date for DS2, love it to be early 2025 🤞🏻
I'd love to get both the Astro Gacha and that massive pinball machine they had a the Champions League Final in London. Just need to find a spare £30k and a mansion to house it in. Feel free to donate to this worthy cause.
Probably have a release date shown for MH Wilds and DS2 I reckon
Expecting a date for Wilds there.
I'm jealous because those Astro t-shirts are so much better than the ones we can buy from Sony's online store.
@Decoy_Snake Same. Its easily one of my most anticipated games right now. Hopefully next year will be a massive year for Playstation. We have this, Wolverine and maybe even Ghost of Tsushima 2. We definitely need a new big blowout of games announced, in terms of massive titles we don't have much confirmed from Playstation
I would love that Astro Bot t-shirts :3
E3 and Tgs used to be a big deal with loads of announcements 🥲 still think this whole cancelled live service games has really made a dent in their schedule.
Smart move getting Monster Hunter Wilds at their booth, this game is going to shift a tonne of PS5 consoles in Japan.
I'm also hoping for a release date which fingers crossed is for January/February. Also does anyone know if this MH will have cross play?
If Lego Horizon doesn't get a release by the time TGS ends then it's a safe bet it's not releasing this year, unless it's a shadow drop at Sony's next Showcase.
@Batesy125s I really want to see what Bluepoint are up to personally of its still the new IP great if its Bloodborne Remaster even better!
They have to have either a showcase or state of play soon to reveal the pro, you would think, but with Sony who knows anymore.
@UltimateOtaku91 Yes Wild already confirmed will have crossplay

I'm excited for some new games to be announced. Hopefully, we see more from Japanese devs since Sony really needs to get back their fair share of the Japanese market after the Switch's dominance. Having MH Wild in there is a smart move considering that's a huge game in Japan.
Nice to see Sony attend TGS again after being absent for several years
This is when the ps5 pro is expected to be announced
@Decoy_Snake yeah same. Would love it to be an MGS 1 remake, or even the first metal gear. Although I know they're looking at doing their own IP so will be interested to see what becomes of that. Bluepoint is such a talented team
