Well-supported and well-liked banger racer Wreckfest is getting a PS5 sequel, and while there’s no release date attached just yet, you can check out a trailer embedded above. Developer Bugbear Entertainment is promising a “rebuild” of its “true-to-life physics simulation engine”, which it promises will take full advantage of new-gen hardware.
The press release reveals: “Wreckfest 2 features even higher crash fidelity, a deeper armour and damage system, more intricate component damage simulation, and many more improvements across the board!”
You’ll be driving against oncoming traffic and in demolition arenas, and you’ll also be able to fully customise all of your vehicles with unique decals and liveries. The press release also mentions there’ll be an “entirely reimagined career mode” which will support all playstyles. Unfortunately, there’s no release date attached to the title just yet, so you’ll have to wait a little while longer before indulging your destructive side.

Played this through PSPlus, really great fun.

Nice one, I played the first one for ps5 on playstation plus and loved it so much I got the platinum, will happily buy the sequel. The only thing I wasn't keen on was the music in the game.
Wasn't mad on the first game but can see they could really take it somewhere with the experience and probably bigger budget

Nice.. The first one in terms of driving mechanics and gameplay fun was great for the most part. The biggest complaint I had, and why I fell off, was the garbage structure of the various racing circuits. Which forced you into Playing modes/race types that were frankly just lame.
They should double down on the good, perhaps go all in on the destruction derby and physics based racing mayhem and maybe tone down lawnmower and couch racing.....

I'm sure it was just for the trailer but there wasn't much damage happening in those "gameplay" portions.
I really enjoyed the first one. I hope the character in the video above is not in the new game as I find him obnoxious. Fingers crossed for the new game.

This is awesome news, I still play the original even now. A benchmark for brilliant games for me is how many hours I pour in after I have the platinum, I platted wreckfest long long ago and still enjoy a blast

Now that's certainly a... trailer. A man fondling his beat up derby car like a long lost lover while making allusions to domestic violence and how he won't lose his temper again. Definitely, uh, creative.

Same, got the platinum for the first game, really enjoyed it. Ended up turning off the weird public domain music and playing Spotify in the background - worked like a charm.

Cool, I've never tried the Spotify feature on ps5 to be honest and didn't on ps4 either. I've never been too bothered with listening to music while playing games, but I do in racing games though. I used to love the soundtrack on Destruction Derby 2 back in the day.
Played since the FlatOut series and Wreckfest was really the best one yet imo. Vehicular damage is awesome in these games, so excited to see what improvements we get to see in that engine!
