PS5's jolly 3D platformer Astro Bot has today received another small update. Bringing the game to version 1.004, the patch is only 382.5 MB in size, and it's available to download and install now.
It's the second patch within a few days or so, with patch 1.003 arriving last week. Much like the last update, this latest one comes with no sign of patch notes or any official word from developer Team Asobi, so we're left unclear on precisely what it addresses.
We can only assume the update squashes a few lingering bugs; we saw a handful of people mentioning crashes and visual errors, though these don't seem massively widespread. The issue related to save data appears to have been fixed in the last patch, going by anecdotal information we've seen online.
At any rate, it's worth getting this patch installed to ensure your game is as good as can be. You'll have to let us know if you spot any changes in the comments section below.

I am 15 hours in and near the end. I have 100% completed every level so far and truly love the game. I have not encountered anything unpolished, which itself is a fantastic achievement. These patches might be clearing up rare minor issues, but I also strongly suspect Team Asobi is slipping in some surprises as they did regularly with Astro's Playroom.
Probably stability improvements.
One thing I think the game does need to improve, and I am being really nitpicky here since the game is near-perfect, is the way costumes are handled. You put on a costume and enter a level, all is fine and dandy, but many levels have a tool/device that you equip. When you equip those, you revert back to standard Astro. So, I find you are not in costume much of the time. It's a minor thing, but when you are excited to try out a costume then jump in a level and the costume goes away, it makes the heart sink a bit.
I had few examples of minor slowdown it might address. But they were few and far between. Got the plat last night. Brilliant game
I have spotted some graphics glitches, like if you move the camera, the reflection of light from a small part of an object can take 1 second to appear. But this is very minor and I spotted that while taking my time to enjoy the vistas!
Reading this gives me a vision of a future, in this future you can just click the option button on a game, a menu pulls up and there you get another option to click on, it is called update history and allas you can actually see the changes an update brought.
Well, maybe someday in the far future…….OH WAIT!
Other than one visual bug I found, this game was flawless! I already got the Platinum and switched back to my playthrough of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
@riceNpea
What were THEY using before...amaturenouns...
Not too far in, but had an issue last night where I supposed to be hammering nails into something but it seemingly froze part way through. Was still showing the helpful clip in the far left, but couldn’t close down or get back to Home Screen. Had to reboot ps5 but worked ok after that.
Crashed a couple of times on me going for the platinum, and I lost a save after beating the impossible level at the end and had to redo it- but got it in the end. Looking forward to the speed run levels update coming down the road!
@Frmknst If you play it completely blind it's a hell of a lot longer than 8 hours.
And some of us play games to you know, have fun and are happy to replay existing content.
The audio needs work. Can barely hear when he normal punches enemies, yet some of his death yelps are piercing.
Probably fixing some things that got broken in patch 1.003. Always the way...
I'm ready for those new challenge levels whenever you are Asobi. Bring them on! I love this game.
Like others, I love just playing this game. First time in a long time that I’m going back just to collect things. Haven’t been this committed to really doing everything in a game since Mario Odyssey, I believe.
Stuck on one of the last mini levels - my final bot to get. Those mini levels are a bit out of context to the rest of the game. The game is just pure fun but these levels are like old school difficult 🤬
@StonyKL Having played the original Crash Bandicoot again a while ago, they're really not old school difficult at all.
@Frmknst Got the platinum this weekend and it was 17 hours long. Also I don't sell my games.
@Frmknst
I do - 23 hours into it and taking my time with it; It's highly enjoyable and rushing things doesn't work for me, so...
And like NintenGuy, I don't sell my games either, ESPECIALLY not this one. It'd be an insult to Team Asobi imo
This game continues to crash my system after about 45 minutes of play time. It's the only game that does this and I deep cleaned my system after the second time it happened but the problem remains. I'm hoping one of these patches finally fixes this so I can finally enjoy the game.
My only nitpicks with the game are the shadows are still a bit low quality, like in Playroom, and it's really obvious when using the mouse shrinking power. And the music, which I love, but has Kenny been sat on his hands for 4 years? I'd say 90% of the music is recycled from Playroom and Rescue Mission.
My only gripe with the game is that it will not last me forever 🥲 loving every moment.
Edit: I did encounter a single bug, though: there were some revolving platforms that had spikes on just one side but the game would still kill Astro if I jumped on the no-spike side. Exited the level and it fixed itself
Clearly the last last patch didnt quite work - they are trying to patch in a PS5 Pro. It costs 700 gold coins and sits horizontally, but for an extra 25 coins you can stand it vertically!
Next patch is a disk drive for it for another 100 gold coins.
The patch after that is that they are adding the song "P S S R", though this may take a bit longer as it sounds like a swearword (thank you DF).
@MrPeanutbutterz
"yet some of his death yelps are piercing"
That is your punishment for getting such a cute robot killed, not a bug!
Maybe it follows Sony's trend and "improves stability".
If it doesn't break the game, it's good news all the way.
Must be a fluke - can PS5 even process files as small as 382 Mb?😏
I had to restart the tree trunk level as I had 2 music tracks playing simultaneously and the enemies up in the sky were glitching out. Thought I was going nuts for a moment.
