The excellent Astro Bot has today received a game update, though exactly what it does is a mystery. The patch comes in at about 384MB, and it's available to download and install now.
Unfortunately, we've been unable to source any patch notes for this update to the 3D platformer. We'll of course update this story if and when we learn more, but for now it's unknown precisely what this update brings to the table.
Presumably, this patch's main job will be to squash any leftover bugs or performance quirks. However, having played through the entire game, we never once encountered a single bug or performance hiccup — it's already super polished as far as we understand.
One issue we have seen reported pertains to save data; apparently, if the game crashes, you can lose autosave data, meaning any progress you've made since the last save will be gone. Again, we never encountered anything like that in our time playing, but it appears not everyone has been so lucky. It's possible this patch addresses this issue, as it's pretty much the only thing we've seen people having trouble with.
Hopefully some official patch notes can clarify matters. Until then, get your game updated so you're playing the best version possible. Have you run into any issues playing Astro Bot? Discuss in the comments section below.

Hopefully, it fixes the hard crashes I've seen a few people (including myself) experience. The only hard crash I got (of course) occurred just as I was about to beat the hardest challenge level.
I've also noticed some very rare instances of Astro getting caught on an obstacle or dying when no hazards existed. Other than those minor hitches, the game's extremely well-polished.
In the many hours my family and I have put into this game, I’ve encountered one bug. My son got stuck on a swinging pad with the crocodile gloves, so we had to restart. Other than that it’s been flawless for us. Further proof that not every game needs to be a massive GoW budget/style game.
No bugs so far but have installed the update.
Reminds of how games used to be no bugs and top performance.
Sees only Sony and Nintendo manage this on release date of games nowadays.
Never had a bug. Hopefully it fixes the save issue.
Played around 8 hours in total prepatch, no bugs or crashes occurred. Installed the patch earlier today, game crashed 2 times within the span of an hour. Unlucky I guess.
I reinstall the game right now and hope this will fix it.
Not a single bug, not even a glitch and I've been hammering the game making sure I 100% each level, in 1 or 2 goes.
Unbelievable how good this game is.
@caiol92 That was already there
Is it maybe to start rolling out the free dlc bots and levels soon? I don't want this game to end so more content before i reach the end would be great 😩
Yeah had one hard crash as I was messing around with fluid in one of the levels.
I think the only bug I have come across - if it's even considered a bug - is that every time I get new items for the special characters from the capsule machine, the Bloodborne mound shines as if there is an unlock there - but it never changes!
Just got the Platinum. Waiting to see if they add DLC. Great game but that final challenge run was frustrating
My first thought was a reference to PS1 model numbers. But it only got 1000 1001 and 1002 for the 100x series... Nevermind
Adds a PS5 Pro to the game for 700 gold coins!
Edit: just worked out you can display it horizontally at the crash site, or vertically for another 25 gold coins!
I've paused playing it until they fix the save bug - I've lost as many as three worlds' progress in one go... here's hoping it's sorted as the only way around it is to quit out to the Home Screen and restart the game to force a save, which breaks the immersion.
@GamingFan4Lyf I've noticed that, but that is the only bug or glitch I've noticed!
Only glitch I have had is the one in my brain trying to get through some of the challenge levels. Holy Crap I either have no skills or this game really is a challenge.
There's been instances where the game has been basically causing crashes from seemingly overheating. Mine did it once but my PS5 is spotless(I clean it every 4 months and I just so happened to clean it a weak before Astro Bot launched) so I don't know what the cause was. It only did it once. I don't know if the update addresses it or not. Wish these updates told you what they did.
I had a bug where as dressed as Wander the cape got stuck on something and rubber banded across the whole level. Only thing I've encountered getting to 100%. Great game, makes me want to replay a load of PS games.
Had the game hard crash my PS5 three times yesterday, completely making the system unresponsive to the level that pulling the plug was the only solution. Also made worse by the saves not saving.
Not happened so far today after patch, but too early to tell.
What about stability improvements?
I really wish this came out in the early to mid summertime because I would’ve bought it Day 1 easy. With the NFL & NCAAF going on, my weekends are pretty booked (until Metaphor ReFantazio releases that is).
Astrobot looks fantastic and I’m sure the DualSense features are top notch and the best of the gen easy.
According to Playstation Lifestyle, this update seemingly fixes the save file issue.

Well the only thing that I hope they fix is the color of the analogs of the controller to match the real controller
I have already managed the platinum last Sunday 👌
In my run to getting Platinum, I've experienced a few minor physics-related bugs. This included Astro stopping dead during a wall-run, and 'tripping' off or getting caught on objects. Minor but they are notable.
My two children have found the odd grammatical error while playing. I’ve made Asobi aware on Twitter/X. Other than that, we’ve had absolutely no issues.
