You may recall that Astro’s Playroom has been counting down to the release of Astro Bot, which is out now in some countries around the world. But while you presumably busy yourself with the new game, you may be wondering what’s going on in the old one. Fortunately, this video posted to X (or Twitter) showcases the party that’s taking place inside your PS5 right now:
In order to take part in the celebrations, you need to update Astro’s Playroom to the latest version and head to the new room at the back of the PlayStation Labo area. Here you’ll find all of your Special Bots alongside a gaggle of other Bots all partying as the countdown to Astro Bot’s release reaches zero. It’s great fun, and some good synergy between the titles.
Remember, you’ll be able to transition your progress in Astro’s Playroom across to the new game. You’ll need to have found all the Special Bots first, of course, and our all Special Bots locations guide can help you with that. Furthermore, if you’re hunting for all the VIP Bots in the new game, then our Astro Bot PS5 guide has you covered.

That was pretty awesome. With a minute to go the lights turned off and the PSOne start music played and the bots counted down from ten then all started dancing.
That's how you launch a game.
Truly adorable!
The countdown in Robotese is the cutest thing!
That’s impressive
I really hope Sony will put some money and tech support behind some indie devs who want to make similar types of games that utilise all that the Sony system has to offer in new and exciting ways.
I'm sure with the right support some really creative teams could have similar success if backed by SIE and really push the boundaries further than otherwise would be possible.
I'm from Brazil, nothing here yet.
Goty can't wait for launch. Tonight.
The build up to this game has been incredible happy launch day everyone hope everyone enjoys the game can’t wait to play it once my physical copy arrives
I've avoided watching all of the spoilers. Seems some people don't realize the countdown timer in Astro's Playroom hasn't hit zero yet for everyone. Three and a half hours left here.
I absolutely love the amount of personality the Astro Bot games have. I can't think of a single game that tops it.
@Sequel
Mine just got sent. It is taking a bit. Best of luck mang!
Stuff like this is stuff you can do with live service support by the way.
/ Runs.
@get2sammyb …or just patch that uses a clock to run a countdown without any internet truly required afterwards.
You know…or that.
@get2sammyb aye, all the Concord characters are having a wake in mine as we speak 😉
That is stupid cool!
@Almost_Ghostly Same, but plan on watching it again on my PS5.
I noticed the game received an update last night but did not know what it was for. This is exactly why Sony need to have a feature where you can view patch notes.
Watched it live and it was quite cool. A big smile moment. I saved the video for posterity! (Sad, i know)
You cant see too well in the video (well i cant), but there are little messages on all the monitor screens.
I want to play this but the price tag feels too high! Wish it was a £40 game instead.
@Sequel
Your last comment made me smile. Whilst I love the somewhat more serious tone games like GOW / SM, sometimes you just need a happy family game.
I really love what Team Asobi is doing with the games; they really are passionate AND super talented.
@Vault_Mcfly maybe it's on Twitter....oh wait.
@Sequel that is brilliant. I miss the times when my kids were young and we had experiences like that. Wonderful.
@Icey664
For the work thats gone into it, it feels very much worth the asking price.
Gaming needs to get back to a you get what you pay for - if you pay a premium price you expect a premium game. If its not a premium game - you expect a cheap price. I think this game fits the former.
@Rich33 agreed, if it packs even the same amount of stuff but a longer game than the pre install OG, then I'm happy for the price...
Even more happy I've bought it digital and my controller and sealed game will be pride of place in my collection.
I still personally feel that the OG is the best showcase for what the controller can do, and since I first had my PS5, I've wanted more; and today Is the day!
I'm 40 and feel like a kid at Christmas (with deeper pockets) 🤣
@Slideaway1983
From the very little i have been able to play so far, the amount of care, attention, and detail is amazing.
I often complain about poorly optimised games with poor framerates, or low visual quality - this is literally the complete opposite and makes most other non-Sony games look like budget titles!
@Rich33 I guess I better download it then haha. From vampire survivors to this... not a bad pivot 🤣
Played the first level before I went to work, wanted to call in sick and keep playing
@dskatter The weekly Special Bots, the countdown, the regular updates — that’s live service.
The scenario you described is live service.
Regardless of whether it's live service or not, it was a very nice touch. I went to the countdown room to check and the bots are still partying.
@AdamNovice wat? That's the PS5 boot tune.
Man I really do hope astrobot sells way more than concord and sony upcoming live-service games and sony pivot their 1st party games to single player games again. And have team asobi make ape escape games already 😃
