The Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta returns for a second weekend of availability today, but the gun that was on the tip of everyone's tongue the first time out won't be back in quite the same shape. An SMG named the Jackal PDW dominated matches during the beta's first weekend, and now Treyarch has addressed its overpowered nature with some nerfs.
For the second round of Black Ops 6 beta access, the Jackal PDW has had its maximum damage output reduced from 29 to 26, and the range at which it produces that maximum damage has been reduced by 63cm. Its near-medium damage has also dropped by one and the range reduced to 17.78 metres. Even the minimum damage number it can produce has dropped from 19 to 15. A "small increase to view kick strength and view kick deviation" is also noted.
Treyarch offered the following explanation for the nef on the Call of Duty website: "The Jackal PDW's intended strength is best in class handling and decent mobility, balanced by a slower rate of fire compared to many of the other automatic weapons in the game. It was overperforming at medium ranges, so we’ve increased the damage falloff and pulled the ranges closer along with a slight increase to recoil." At least you get a better headshot multiplier if you equip it with the CHF Barrel attachment.
